SEARS - rediculously bad service

Furnace
SEARS
US

I had to have new furnace cause of water in basement. Took sears 4 days to start installation. Friday they left early, I had to wait til Monday. Installer arrived about 1pm. Picked up furnace but couldn't install til next day (only works til 5pm). He didn't speak highly of sears and became grumpy and antimidating as time went on. Obvious he didn't want to be here. Why didn't I get another installer? Because it was 0 degrees outside (windchill -14). My dad was helping me by putting this on his SEARS card. I was afraid to say anything and have to wait several days to a week to get someone else. He gave me the completion form with nothing filled out, and I signed it to get him out.

I did tell sales rep of my frustration the evening before he finished and agreed I should call main office next day after he was done. I didn't was him more grumpy and not completed. Main complaints besides attitude:

* Furnace to high against rafters, created problem, not enough room for some of venting.

* Two heat vents were not connected,

* one vent held by one of my bungie cords

* a block of wood he found to support another vent

* took down 4 support posts (only discussed 1 or 2)

and didn't know were they went,

* furnace too close to chimney (also discussed)

* this caused issues for plumber, took more time and materials (at my cost)

* venting through chimney has 1 inch gap all around

( allowing air and critters to pass thru it)

Each time I talk to sears they act like these are not an issue. I keep getting passed around and a 3rd person wants to come look at it. Two people and about 15 pictures of everything and they still want another guy to look.

I called to check on city inspection since new guy wants to base his decision on that inspection. I told him inspector said he won't inspect with sears there, only discuss with me and installer. Told both I don't want him back in my house, don't like his attitude or trust his work. Sears says they can't get anyone else to fix it but this guy. Sears doesn't actually have a heating/coolng company, they contract everything. This way they don't have to stand behind anything. Great to pass the buck and not have the responsibility. I shouldn't have to deal with an installer I don't trust. Would sears stand behind even worse behavior of an installer. If Sears wants to brag about their 100% customer satisfaction (written and advertised everywhere), then I'd like to see it. It's amazing how many complaints I've seen on the internet. I think I'm #9984, just at this site. I probably won't be reimbursed for anything and doubt that much will get fixed. Beware and informed even when dealing with large companies. Will buy from sears again and will let people know how well they don't take care of their customers.

P.S. It has been 4 weeks since this all started. Their sending another guy to inspect, but his comments so far indicate I'm stuck with any extra costs incurred for their mistakes. I'm amazed at all the advertising they do about 100% satisfaction, but do not back it up. Unfortunately, people and companies are no longer responsible or can be taken at their word.
