Last week we took our 12 year cocker spaniel, Jasmine, to Personal Touch Grooming for the 1st time. We reported to the manager at that time that we've always heard from previous groomers that our dog is extremely well behaved. I should have been alerted by the initial treatment Jasmine received when the manager took her by the leash and PULLED her into the back area of the shop by force. I let it go not wanting to start a stink. Later that day when I picked Jasmine up she was extremely lithargic, with not enough energy to use the bathroom or jump-up to attempt to get the car. Once we got her home, she progressively showed more signs of low-interest and the inability to eat. I kept her as comfortable as possible, thinking that possibly they sedated her without my permission. By the next morning, she was much worse. Infact, I thought she might be experiencing heart failure. We took her to our Vet who administered two types of medication, including pain pills. Eventually, she did begin to feel better. But, my initial concerns did not look hopeful.

I was amazed at how the manager of the shop responded when I went back the groomer's shop. I inquired as to the type of procedures they have in place as it relates to administering drugs. She was very cool, and unmoved by the series of events following the grooming and the additional $235 vet charges. She would not agree to refunding the grooming charge of $40, despite the costs we incurred to get our dog feeling better again. She made several comments regarding Jasmine's age, insinuating that was the cause of the turn of events. Jasmine has been groomed every 8 weeks since she was a pup. And she has never had this type of experience. She was same age going in as she was going out, and something happened during that time that either hurt her or traumitized her.
