Shady Oak Havanese/Donna Roberts Convicted of Animal Cruelty, sold puppies with contagious/infectious disease. Failed to follow NJ Consumer Law

Donna Roberts owner of Shady Oak Havanese was convicted of Animal Cruelty in Dec. 2007 in Shamong Municipal Court, Shamong NJ. Ms. Roberts sold puppies with contagious and infectious diseases.

We bought a puppy in June, 07, our puppy was diagnosed with Coccidia, Giardia (contagious to humans and animals) a Yeast Infection in both ears and an Umbilical Hernia which required surgery. Our puppy was so horribly ill, it was so sad and frightening, it has been a complete nightmare. When contacting Ms. Roberts to inform her of the issues, I found she was nowhere to be found and would not return my phone calls or letters. I called many times only to finally have her return the call on July 20.

When I finally spoke with Ms. Roberts, the puppy had also been diagnosed with Gastritis from the "parasitic" infection. Ms. Roberts denied any wrong doing and went so far as to say that "all puppies have parasites" and it was "no big deal". NO BIG DEAL?? It was more than a big deal, it was horrifying to think that she had let this happen to my puppy and who knows how many other puppies have suffered the same thing, or even worse?

Ms. Roberts dismissed all the facts and said my Vet had no idea what they were talking about...my Veterinary Hospital has been in business for 50 years. I told Ms. Roberts I had an Unfit for Purchase Certificate and that she would be responsible for paying the Vet. bills. She told me to send all the information and she would "take care of it."

Needless to say, nothing was taken care of...that's why I am here now. Ms. Roberts failed to follow NJ Consumer Law and still disregards her responsibilities. She will not cooperate and refuses to reimburse the Vet. bills as required by law.

Ms. Roberts has several complaints against her and uses several different names and business locations, including, Medford, Indian Mills, Atco, Lakewood and Howell NJ. Ms. Roberts has changed phone numbers several times, as well.

Ms. Roberts has been completely disrespectful and rude and has written completely false allegations against all buyers that complained, the SPCA and NJCAPSA. It seems the whole world is wrong according to her, everyone is out to get her, apparently. She also has made completely false and derrogatory statements/comments to and about all of the consumers that have complained.

I am asking for help to stop these horrible breeding practices that have gone on entirely too long. I am asking Ms. Roberts to follow proper procedures and own up to her obligations. I suppose I will have to go to Small Claims Court, but, that will not solve the problem, it's not about the money..it's about why the money had to be spent in the first place.

I had a very sick little puppy, he was sick every hour, he would not eat or drink. I had to feed him from my hand and/or off of a spoon. I had to put baby food in his water so he would drink it. My puppy is the sweetest dog I have ever owned and has been a complete angel through all of his horrible experiences. We had to give him up to 4 medications per day and ear drops twice a day. He never knew what it was like to be just a puppy until a few months ago. So, when Ms. Roberts says it's "just Giardia, etc" I have a problem with that, in fact, how would she feel if she had "just Giardia"? It's not pleasant, it's not fair and it's completely uncalled for, this was absolutely unnecesary and these puppies did not deserve that kind of treatment.

I am happy to say, thanks to the love and support of their families, Veterinarians, Libby from NJCAPSA and Theresa from the SPCA..the puppies are doing much better and we feel we rescued them and saved their lives.

There were puppies sold with Mange and Lice among other things, some from the same so called "Valentine litter" as our puppy. None of the "paperwork" is accurate, no health records were provided which I have requested several times. The AKC papers were either not provided or sent with incorrect information. It's just a vicious cycle that will not end. There is nothing that is right about this, it needs to be made right, once and for all.

Donna is very rude and obnoxious and makes up ridiculous stories about everything. I have no idea how she has been able to get away with this for so long, but, there has to be some justice for these puppies, someday. Believe it or not, there is more to the story and it's as sick and twisted as people that "breed" sick dogs and then claim no responsibility for their actions. Donna even stated (when we paid her the money) "oh good, this will help pay my tax bill." Yes, I had many red flags and I didn't pay attention, once I held this puppy, nothing else mattered.

I have notified many different agencies, etc...thank you, to all the people that have helped us so far. Please, beware of any Havanese Breeder in NJ, it seems Donna Roberts has a monopoly on it here, as well as other small breeds, be extremely careful. It's a shame for the responsible breeders, but, if they are truly doing it for the right reasons they won't mind at all if you ask a lot of questions, ask for references and check them out.

In the State of NJ when someone appells a decision and they are found NOT GUILTY it is as if the charges were never filed. Keeping this on your site constitutes slander and libel. Please remove this slanderous and libelous statement. It is not fair to me or my family.

On Sept. 26, 2009 ALL CHARGES FROM THE SPCA WERE REVERSED AND DONNA ROBERTS IS INNOCENT. In fact the Court ruled that Donna Roberts should have never been charged in the first place, that the SPCA, Laurie Pallante, Barbara Harra and others involved were erred in filing criminal charges that at best the case was civil, if in fact any of them had a case.

I have bought 4 Havanese from Donna Roberts. She is a GOOD BREEDER, don't listen to Laurie Pallante or Libby Williams. I did not have one problem with any of my dogs, ages 12 years to 4 months. I have sent many a customer to Donna and they have all been happy. Donna hasn't asked anyone who bought a dog from her for help to defend her against these horrible lowlifes, she feels it's her fight but I am here to tell the world that Donna's pups are the best and she takes good care of them. Libby Williams and Laurie Pallante are taking everything and blowing molehills into mountains in fact the charges for Animal Cruelity should have never been taken by the SPCA, the only reason Donna got charged was because she threw the SPCA off her property and the shrimp SPCA officer got mad and threatened her with tickets if she didn't allow them to see the dogs, with that Donna said get off and get a warrent. It later was revealed that they did not have "ANY" grounds to get a warrant. The SPCA didn't do anything legal and skirted the issue of Donna Robert's civil rights. All charges were turned over except for one, and that was for a pup with cocci which is common, nine in ten puppies will have it. The entire bogus episode was a witch-hunt from the begining.

The charge for Laurie Pallante's pup was overturned and Donna was found NOT GUILTY yet Laurie Pallante insists on slandering and harassing her. This gypsy con-artist needs to understand that she is breaking the law with her slander and harassment. She could be arrested at this point with all the lies and crap she has posted on the Net not to mantion the letters written with more lies, Donna, don't be NICE. NAIL THIS WITCH TO THE WALL, she deserves it.

Laurie Pallante is a con artist. That is why she is gun ho to get Donna Roberts, she expected to get the dog for free. This did not happen when her own vet, Dr. Horn would not find the dog sick under NJ law and Laurie was livid. She claims the pup was so sick that she had to feed it with a spoon but anyone with common sense would no it's all lies because Laurie did not take the pup to the vet until 10 after she bought him and the vet said no way was the pup sick, he only had a parasite. Laurie is trying to defraud an Insurance Company, and yet makes money off the books by running a daycare center from her home. Watch out for this gypsy.

Laurie I did not have to make anything up, the Investigators name is Jeffrey Goldstein, he googled your name and all your lies that you have been posting about me came up. There doesn't appear to be anything wrong with you but I will email your comments to Mr. Goldstein as he asked if I would be willing to help the Insurance Company but if you are not on workman's comp and not running a daycare I don't know what or why this man would have called me, Would you like his phone no. As far as you gathering info, go ahead. I haven't bred or sold a dog since last Christmas so I cannot imagine who it is that is unhappy but the important thing is Consumer Affairs has not contacted me with any complaints since yours so I am not going to worry about it. I cannot take care of something if I am not told about it and then if the complaint is valid is another issue. So knock yourself out, keep on slandering, you are also adding to your file at my lawyer's office.

Your puppy had a parasite, he was not sick according to your own vet so get over it. I was found INNOCENT OF SELLING YOU A SICK PUPPY, that means NOT GUILTY of your BOGUS lies. Your house of Honesty give it a break (lol) You are just mad because you didn't get a free dog like you planned, with free vet care for the life of the dog.

Once again, Donna Roberts is making up stories, there is no such "investigation" and there is no daycare center..how and why Ms. Roberts came up with this bogus story is beyond me. I stopped trying to figure things out a long time ago, with her..you can't believe anything. Donna, you were convicted, you did not follow NJ Consumer Law..and as for fraud, etc..well, I never mentioned the word, but, we all know the truth, don't we? Well Karma has won out again. An Insurance investigator called me to ask me questions about Laurie Pallante. She is under investigation for Insurance Fraud. She has been on workman's comp for a very long time and is believed to be running a daycare (unlicensed) out of her home. I told them what I knew about her especially how she ran around the backyard playing with the puppies. She didn't look hurt to me. And she calls me a fraud and liar. Get off your dead a## and get a job deadbeat.

Donna Roberts was found INNOCENT on Appeal on May 7, 2008. Laurie Pallante's complaint was dismissed as her puppy was not declared "sick" by a vet. Laurie Pallante is a liar and slandered Donna Roberts and her family for months. See ripoffreport.com
