Fair Debt Collections Practice Act Violation

NCO called me about a bill that I owed. I lost my job a year ago and I was unable to make payments to my creditor. I spoke to a collector there and explained the situation to her. She accused me of sitting on my butt instead of looking for a job. I told her that I would make a payment in a couple of weeks and she said that was not good enough. She wanted the total amount due of $1200 which I didn't have. After I made the arrangements, they continued to call my house 6-10 times a day. I spoke to several people there and they said that there was no record of any payment arrangements in their system. After 2 weeks of calls, I finally got a supervisor on the phone and explained to this jerk that they were in violation of the FDCPA and I was filing a complaint againt them at the Federal Trade Commission. He said that the calls would stop within 24 hours. The calls did not stop so I filed a complaint with the FTC. I suggest to anyone who is dealing with a collection agency that you get to know the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act and don't let those collectors get the best of you. File complaints with the right people and this will change.
