In April 2006 we had a paver walkway installed by John Johnson and it looked great. The walkway cost was $3600. In July 2006 we had a drainage ditch dug and lined with heavy black weed blocker and the ditch was filled with rip rap stone. When he was 3/4 finished I asked him a question and he went into a fit left the ditch partially finished and walked off the job. We had paid him $1100. We had alot of rain and freeze this winter and in early March I noticed that the black plastic edging on the walkway had risen and moved away from the pavers causing some of the pavers to raise and some sunk. My wife called John and explained the problem to him which he said was easy to fix but that he returned her call as a courtesy but that he would never set foot on our property, and told her to never call him again. So I guess its going to cost us more money to have someone else fix the problem. We paid another contractor $800. to rip out all Johnson did and fix the problem. He also found that the ditch was pitched the wrong way, causing the water to come back on our property. John became hostile and arrogant if you asked a question or made a suggestion even though we were paying him and he was working on our property.

In reguards to the complaint against my company by Ralph Simeones on 3/12/08 (ref: Ralph Simeone, E-001845-2008)

Ralph Simones complaint for the most part is false. The only truth being that I did install a beautiful walkway for $3,600.00

As far as the drainage ditch is concerned I truly was never abusive to Ralph as a mater of fact I went out of my way to be pleasant to Ralph after realizing he is a very angry man and extremely difficult to get along with. If the truth be known it was Ralph that got abusive towards me when because of the circumstances of the job I tracked dirt on his driveway. Ralph got so angry he told me to get off his property. This was before I was able to finish the job to the Simeone’s and my expectations.

I was not paid $1,100.00 as a matter of fact I was paid $2,100.00 towards a $3,575.00 job. As I was leaving the job I expressed to Mrs. Simeones who was very pleasant and easy to work for how sorry I was about Ralph’s condition and wished it could have been different. So the fact is I was not fully paid for work that was completed before Ralph insisted I left his property.

Ralph’s wife Ellen Simeone did call me and tell me there was a problem with the walkway. I believe I know what problem she spoke about because when I came back to their house to attempt to finish the drainage ditch I noticed that a small mound of bushes were planted along side of the walkway I installed. It so happens that this side of the walkway is intentionally sloped towards the bushes slightly to allow water to run off and avoid puddling that can cause pavers to shift. If this is what is happening and I believe the bushes are causing the puddling, its very easy to fix, and even thought my workmanship was altered I would normally come back and fix the problem anyway. I truly regret that because of Ralph’s extremely bizzar behavior I will not subject my employees or myself to this unacceptable environment. I feel that anymore contact with the Simeones would cause more harm than good.

There were two employees on the job with me that witnessed this complaint and their names are available upon request.

Thank you very much for the opportunity to express my side of this complaint.
