In January, 2008 I contracted w/Expedia.com to book a hotel and rental car for me in Kansas City, MO. I paid them $443.56 in February, 08. My plane arrived 2 hours late on June 18th and when I arrived at Advantage Rental Car I was informed that they had sold my rental car to another customer and had no cars available. I had a contract that both Expedia.com and Advantage Car Rental refused to honor. Ya can't call Advantage to tell them I would be late from 36,000 feet. Basically I had to eat $210.00 of additional car rental cost for these companies failure to perform their contractual duties. No, Expedia.com does not inform their customers that they have given their suppliers the right to resell their car if they don't show within 2 hours of pickup. Yes, Expedia did refund their rental car portion of the charge, but only gave me a "coupon" for future travel to offset their fee. The contract we entered into was paid for...I believe I got scammed for $210.00 which went directly into the pockets of Advantage who rented the car at a premium rate to another customer. Expedia.com allows their suppliers to govern their "customer satisfaction" index. Advantage sold the car knowing very well they could resell the car at a premium and forget the Expedia contractual agreement. I am writing a letter to the Attorney General for the State of MO. and filling an official complaint. How much money could a rental car make by doing this to Expedia.com customers before Expedia gets tired of the complaints?
