I worked for Steven Johnathon Van horn when I was 17 years old. i was his top surveyer. The payroll checks I received were fraugelent and he would never pay my bank fees for the checks bouncing. I recently went back to work for him in may of 2008 and again I was his top surveyer. Again my checks bounced but this time he paid my bank fee. I am posting this for all patriot home defense system distrubutors. He is a horrible bussiness man. Very un professional. he currently is trying to terminate me for "fake work" and in all actuallity my work was no fake just no completley finished. When you work from a phone room it is only common sense that you will get hung up on. Well John is the kind of person that if your numbers are low you will hear it from him and he will make you feel very bad about yourself. What had happened was my manager told me that if someone gets halfway through my survey and hangs up to go ahead and write out the rest of it and count it on my time sheet. When the appointment setters went to make and appointment with these people they were told they were not interested or they did not do the survey or did not remember it. Therefore making John think I was completley making surveys up. Which is completley un true. Not only is he business a rip off he is not and honest person himself. His employees are continuously given bad checks and he lies to his customers. The gift certificate he is suppose to give you when you view the patriot is real but if you do not buy it you will never see that certificate. I am very upset because he is refusing to pay me for the work I did do and verbally assaulted me not only on the phone but in person too. I refused to sign anything without being paid out and that cost me my dignity. I had to stand there and hear him call me very discusting names. I am not making a complaint against Steve Souders because i know his company is called the Allergy Center too. So steve if you're reading this I would love to talk to you and see what your opinion is on the situation. I am not making this complaint against any of the employees either. I really do believe in what the patriot does. i think it's and incredible machine and would love to be a part of it again. I just want to work for an employer who does not discriminate against his employees and works in a professional manner.

i personally worked for the allergy center and had multiple close employes in the company there were several bounced checks John would yell at the survey girls if he didnt like how things went and several other employes and they charge 4000 for a machine that they maybe pay 500 dollars for and they fix the prices to just make a sale so if you tell them you can only sell it for such amount i have personally sold one for 1500 so there prices are lies the higher they sell it for the more they get in there pocket and they get a tax write off for your old vacum the store manager Mark garza is a good guy but takes Johns crap cause he has to the machine does work but everything else they say is a lie mind you me and my partner sold more machines in weeks then others sold in years or there careeries and for several diffrent prices and i can prove all of this i personally still talk to Mark he is a good person and a good Boss he just has no choice but to do what John says i got fired from john because he threatened to fire me for getting sick even though i was still selling he called me cursing and yelling so when i confronted him face to face he ran and denied everything he is a over the phone tuff guy...to future buyers of the machine it works and is worth what you can afford but dont stretch yourself and put yourself in a bind tell the salesman or so called specialist what you want to spend on it and i garuntee you he will probably make the sale for that price he will just be bumed out about how much he made off the sale

We felt very tricked by this operation. We were lead to believe that we were participating in air quality, allergy prevention related research. Not until the sales rep wearing medical scrubs pulled out the Patriot did we learn the true intention behind the phone survey, the follow up calls, and the home visit. It was misleading to the point of dishonesty.

you know what im tired of people putting him down.... you are giving people the wrong idea about him completely!!! he is very nice to his employees and customers espesially... you can ask the thousands of satisfied customers... john vanhorn is very professional when it comes to his line of work. and it is not his fault you could not take his honesty... but honesty is one of the main things you need to run a buisness... if you were to take his advice then im sure he wouldnt had to have got on to you about what you were doing wrong... i mean would you really want to work for someone tht wont tell you what your doing wrong so you could fix it??? see thats the difference between sympathy and empathy... empythy;"im sorry abut that but heres what you need to do about it" sympythy just feeds into thefeelings and makes the person feel even worse about it.... so you know what maybe you should've thought about what you were doing wrong and done something about it instead of sob about it... john best wishes to you, your employees, and the buissness...!!:)

sincerly,

k

This anonymous complaint is old but, we think, we know who it is. We were interviewing for 2 separate jobs. first position is an in-office job.

Answering phones and scheduling appointments. That job pays between $8 & $12/hr. You sit in a cubicle and deal with customers over the phone. Its an important job. It helps us to better communicate with our customers and would be customers.

Second position is running the set appointments and talking face to face with our customers about the product they want to see. That job has a monthly draw against commission of $2300. Its outside customer service. No supervision.

We believe this complaint came from someone who wanted to work in the office and ended up deciding to persue the customer service position. Which was a mistake because both appointments complained about no one showing up to the appointment. So this person abandonded the job by throwing the kit and machine in the office and running out.

The Allergy Center has taken measures to screen and process the applicants with a stricter background check. People will tell you everything you want to hear in an interview. It takes working with someone for a week or two( maybe longer) before you really know what they're like to work with.

The only responsibility we can assume is hiring the wrong person for the job.

The Allergy Center complies with Federal requirments for "Do Not Call" list. We accomplish this by using the Haines directory. Every 3 months we receive an updated CDrom with the Federal "do not call " list edited out. Every phone operator signs a "Do not call" list memorandum before they start working. The Memorandum explains our commitment to a "0" tollerance attitude towards failing to comply with federal laws. Immediate termination for anyone found to be intentionaly calling phone numbers on a "do not call" list. We take the Federal law very seriously.

just a note:

Please take into account that there is a need to renew your "do not call" list status every 3 to 5 years.

We at The Allergy Center would like the identity of this individual. We believe this complaint to be an attempt to create misinformation by a competitor or maliscious person.

(A) This farce has too many issues to count:

(1) No Steven Johnathon Van Horn exists

(2) We don't hire anyone under age.

(3) If we're bad to work for; why would the complaint say this person came back to work for us.

(4)they claim of no wrong doing; however the admission of writing out the rest of a survey with fake answers if someone hangs up.

(5)the self rightiousness in the accusation of bad check writing.

(6)the victimized tone of the complaint.

(7) The idea that we lie to customers.

(8)The praising of our product and employees but not leadership.

Great employee performance and quality of service are always a direct result of great leadership.

Why not ask the 100's of satisfied and happy customers that we have worked with. We believe in creating what we call the UCS(Ultimate Customer Satisfaction). We work tirelessly to make our customers feel cared for, and secure in the fact that we are here for them whenever they need anything. We bend over backwards to help ours customers in any way we can. We'v even been known to make service house calls(for free) to those who can't make it into the store. We live to hear a customer make positive comments to others about our UCS. We work with the local Salvation Army and The Valley Food Bank year round . With our customers help we are able to help stamp out hunger in the valley.

If This person ever received a bad check from The Allegy Center. I'm positive we would have heard about it. If this person(or if it was policy to treat people with disrespect) we'd have a real problem with a lot of people.

We would like the oppurtunity to figure out how to satisfy this complaint. Or at least determine its origin.

I was recently contacted by "Valley Research in Clovis" which I found out through Google searches, is the cover name that "The Allergy Store" uses when making these phone calls. I am reporting this company to the better business bureau because I am on the Do Not Call list and this was not a research company, but a sales call. The number i recieved the call from was 559-299-0051 . If you recieve a phone call from this number, BEWARE!

I just recently was hired by John Vanhorn about a week ago. I felt like he was one of the most rude people I have ever meet. I was told the position was for a customer service desk person (basically doing desk work and paper work and answering a few phone calls). Well not until the second day of training was it that I found out that I was goin to be driving around to peoples houses showing the product. He lied about the positon. So I told myself to just try it out, I mean it sounded like great money. But when I went out on my first appointment the couple practically shut the door in my face, and then my second appointment didnt even know I was coming. So I said screw it. John Vanhorn is a terrible business man, he is rude, he doesnt speak to his employees properly, and I believe that everything within his business will end up being a scam. Everything you get paid is under the table, and you only get paid once a month if you dont make a lot of sales, which means he wants you to drive all around town and waste your gas for him to "maybe" get a sale. And if you dont get the right amount of sales, you dont get paid. ITS NOT WORTH YOUR TIME!!!
