SATELLITE TV SERVICE DIRECTV US I HAVE HAD SERVICE WITH DIRECTV FOR OVER 5 YEARS. ABOUT A MONTH AGO I BOUGHT A HD BOX FROM BEST BUY WHICH I PAID $99.00 FOR. I INSTALLED THE BOX MYSELF AND I CALLED DIRECTV TO HAVE THE BOX ACTIVATED.I WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAD TO CHANGE MY PLAN TO A HD PLAN AND I HAD TO PAY $9.99 ADDITIONAL JUST FOR HD SERVICE EVERY MONTH.MY BILL WENT FROM ABOUT $50.00 TO $82.00 SO I DECIDED TO CANCEL MY SERVICE TODAY.I CALLED DIRECTV AND WAS TOLD THAT I WAS TO PAY OVER $400.00 FOR EARLY CANCELLATION OF MY HD SERVICE EVEN THOUGH I WAS NEVER TOLD NOR DID I AGREE TO BE ENROLED IN A TWO YEAR PLAN BE IT EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED.I BELIEVE IT IS PUNISHMENT FOR LEAVING THEM, THEY NOW WANT ME TO SEND THE BOXES BACK INCLUDING THE ONE THAT I PAID $99.00 FOR WITHOUT ANY CREDIT TO ME AND I SHOULD PAY OVER $400.00 IN FEES. WHAT A SCAM PLEASE ALERT ALL WHO WILL LISTEN OUT THERE THAT DIRECTV HAS JOINED THE OTHER SCAMERS OUT THERE AND CONSUMERS SHOULD BE VERY CAREFUL.WE HAVE BEEN SOLD FOR CHEAP TO THESE SHAMELESS COMPANIES. I AM GOING TO DO MY BEST TO LET EVERYONE KNOW ABOUT THIS. From: Message Author (click here to email author)Date: Tuesday, 24-Jun-08 16:54:15 CDT Business: Reply Online Consumer: Comment On This Comment On Thisi am going through a similar horrible experience with directv, they told us that they will send us a new dvr because ours stopped working, it came 4 days later and it was broken, they demanded 200 for it if its not returned within 7 days, also the other broken one that we had, a total of 400$, i was on the phone with these asswipes every day for hours and i got yelled at and lied to constantly, after i returned their dvr via fedex, they claimed that they never got them, i called fedex and sure enough the package made it back to directv, some asswipe named Don signed for them sure enough, after another few hours of talking to them, they finally confirmed that the dvrs were returned, but i am still in the proccess of arguing with them to take off the 436$ off our bill, they have everythign they asked for from us, and every day i call them about correcting our bill, and each time after being on the phone for hours, they assure me that everything is taken care of, but the next time that i call, it's back to square one. this company should be out of business, and out of america!
