They call you and offer you this good deal especially if you like to purchase magazines... I signed up on May 22nd of 2008 recieved my first $20 charge on the 28th of May, didn't receive any magazines then I thought well maybe one will be here soon. So I get another $20 charge on June 23rd and I called at first I tried calling a number that must be for the main office which is 770-889-6933 and the phone rang for a good 2 minutes, then I finally get a recording no humans here, and it said press 1 for the magazine customer service I thought "Thank God, HUMANS" and I head nothing but dead air for a whole minute I kept looking at my phone thinking "The line must have cut off..." Then I hear "Thank you for calling American Reading Club, For our magazine customer service press 1" So the only reason why I got their 800 number is because I had to go to my online banking and dig for it. Because its not like their "welcome pack" is all that much of a pack its literally 3 pieces of paper. One which is the names if the magazines they have available, the 2nd a piece of paper to scam you even more with some sort of "dream vacation" which would probably turn out to be "hells vacation" and some other sheet. Then I finally get human on the line and I asked why am I getting billed for this service when I have yet to receive my magazines, and the good ol rep says to me " well it take 8-12 weeks from the date that you signed up" at first I was told 4-8 weeks now it has changed to 12 weeks...so I'll be getting my magazines UNTIL AUGUST 22ND!!! But wait...she did offer to stop the charge from going thru in July...WHAT A DEAL!!! I also requested to cancel and she said, you're past the cancellation point in order to cancel you would have to pay the full amount...$400 and some odd dollars...WOW and I'm sure if you were to fall for that one you'd be getting your magazines in a few years....
