Recently, while attending an excursion to a nearby shopping centre for a senior school business class, a small group of students were given the task to compare prices of competitive coffee stores. While Gloria Jeans, Donut Fair, Wendy's etc did not present a problem and politely asked what the students were doing (which the students replied that they were researching marketing), Jamaica Blue immediately accused the students of "stealing" names, prices and passing on information to other competitive stores. Not only were the students clearly uniformed and as a group, they also stated their purpose to a young staff member. Before the students were able to finish, a senior staff member of Jamaica Blue interrupted, loudly demanding the students to state what they were doing. In doing this, the staff member attracted attention of several customers whom promptly defended the students. Furthermore, I am pleased to say, some of the customers waiting to be served left because they were "disgusted" by the behaviour of the staff member and how they treated potential customers. As the stories continues, the senior staff member continued to yell over the students whom were trying explain the situation. Not only was this "attack" completely unprovoked, but the senior staff member continued to accuse the students of "cheating" their product. One of the students even offered to show the excursion form to prove their innocence. The senior staff member continued to make a scene and by then several of the public had stopped to watch the scene unfold. I can say many of the public backed the appalled students. One woman even made a approached the kids and joked in a stage whisper "...they think you school kids are trying to steal their product". I thank these people for seeing the how rude the Jamaica Blue staff were. I hope that they will remember the situation and not offer their support to Jamaica Blue. I know I will not ever support Jamaica Blue again although I can declare I WAS once a loyal customer. The rudeness and accusations of the one particular staff member has put me off the taste of Jamaica Blue's products for life.
