HOME DEPOT EXTENDED WARRANTY SUCKS

Maytag Washer GE-Zurich Warranty Management, Inc Bldg AP6 Suite 129 Louisville, Ky 40225 US www.geappliances.com I purchased an extended warranty from Home Depot. I have requested repairs on my washing machine without success. They have sent service techs that do not show up or bother to call to let us know they are not coming. They have looked at the machine tell us they need to order parts and never come back. they make appointments we take off work and they do not come. they will not work with us on Saturday's. We are told they do not have a company that will come out on Saturday's.We have been going back and forth like this for 7 weeks now. The last company that came ordered parts and we were told another two weeks before the tech could return. So we felt we had no choice. This past Saturday 6/15/08 after we were told by another tech that it would be safe to use the washer for very small loads such as undergarments, it caught fire in my home. It fill the lower floor of our home with rubber smelling smoke. Our alarms went off and the fire department call us through our alarm system to make sure they did not need to come to put out the fire. I called to report this fire to comsumer relations at GE warranty company and we were told we would have wait to Monday to talk to customer relations. I told the rep our house could have burned down but they did not seem to care. I am sure they got a good laugh after I hung up. I am outraged this mess. We also at the time had an attorney at our home going over some personal documents who witnessed this. When I spoke to the customer serivice person at GE-Zurich and asked them to send someone out to access the damage I was told it would take a week. they also refused to give me a voucher for a new washing machine until the tech sent them a full report that the machine was unrepairable. I do not want this fire hazard back in my house. I asked for a new machine to be delivered and they could pick this one up off the back porch. I was told they could not help me I would just have to wait until all the paperwork was completed. To me this is unexceptable. I have spent 7 weeks driving back and forth to a laudromat. Spending my money to do laundry besides the money for gas. We have lost three days of work without pay at $128.00 a day and these people have the nerve to inform me I must wait another 2 weeks before they can determine what they want to do about this if anything. If you plan to buy an appliance from home depot and they try and sell you on their warranty program do not bother it is not worth the pain and agony if something does go wrong. I am very distress over this whole incident but no one seems to care about hard working people that try and do the right thing. I have also contact HOME DEPOT and they could not assist they just tossed me back into the lions den to take care of this for myself. Buy the time this gets resolved it will have cost me around $700.00 they could have given me a whole new washer and dryer set for that amount of money. So the warranty they try and sell is not worth the paper it is written on. Do not waste your money at HOME DEPOT ON YOUR APPLIANCES OR THE LOUSY EXTENDED WARRANTY PLANS!!! I plan to also sell my stock with GE because of the way I have been treated during this whole process. It is a front loader and the rubber gasket that keeps water in between the door and the tub ripped, sending water beneath the unit and onto the floor. A simple fix, no doubt. First I tried to order service on the internet. It would not let me change my address. We had moved shortly after buying it. That was on a Friday night. I called first thing Monday and they changed my information and scheduled an appointment with "A+E" Service for the next day. The day came and went. Nobody showed up. I called A+E and they told me they had nobody who serviced this area where I live. Great one, Home Depot! Thanks. I called HD back and told them I had been forgotten. They apologized and scheduled me with another company, "Urners Service". They set an appointment for Friday. Friday came (along with piles of dirty laundry stacking up), and I get a call from the actual technician, who asked me what was wrong with the washer. Now granted I had already described in detail the problem with HD, and then a receptionist with Urners. They knew of the problem for 3-4 days. The technician then tells me he has to order the part, and tells me he is not coming out. (OK WHAT THE HECK WAS THE POINT OF AN APPOINTMENT THEN, MORONS!) He schedules me for the next Friday. The kicker was I got a call 2 hours later from the same company, telling me the part had come in! I quickly realize this is a snow job. He just did not want to come out. I got a call this morning from Urners. The same tech called, confirming our appointment. He then tells me that he is working in Bakersfield that day and whines about coming out to my location, "That is really going to kill me". I remind him that I had been waiting for 2 weeks now, and he snowed me last week. He says he is coming out at 2, but I will have to wait and see if that happens. I anticipate he will call about 3 or 4 and tell me he cannot make it, and try to put me off until the next Friday, when, according to the company, they have a technician in the area. As others have stated, DO NOT waste your time on Home Depot appliances. You may save a couple of hundred bucks up front, but you pay the price in the long run. I had to take a day off to go to the laundry mat once, and have been muching off the neighbors for laundry for me, my wife, and our 3 boys. This sucks. We have gone thru 2 refrigerators now this on the freezer wall has a HUGE crqack down the inside..oh yea it cracked 12 months into the products life and the ice maker has been repaired 3 times now it pours water down the side of the freezer wall instead of making cubes. I was told 1. that the craqck inside the 2000.00 refridge is "cosmetic" so they expoxied it anly to have it crack again! The ice maker we are on repair 4 in less than 2 years this time they had to order a prt...3 weeks ago still have not heard from them. Called back and they say they will "look into it" and I never hear from them. I will NEVER buy another GE product again and as far as the extended plan from Home Depot...ran by GE go figure...
