We have wanted to purchase a new fridge for a few years now, but finally gave in after moving. Our old fridge had almost kicked the bucket because of the move, and no time was better then the present. We went to Sears on the 29th of June, selected a model (after much debating and having been to other stores), and were assured that delivery would be made the 8th of July in the afternoon (since I work evenings). They even promised they would call me one hour before delivery to make sure I was awake.


I have been home all day, and no phone call. I called the delivery line at 5 pm, and they assured me my name was on the list, and they would be there before nine. I called back again at 8:15 pm, and they said it shouldn't be long , and that yes my name was in the computer, and that I shouldn't be worried. Yet the man I spoke with only gave me his first name, refusing to give me an employee number or a last name. All he could tell me was his name was Jean-Phillipe. He also told me that the note in my file about calling me an hour ahead of time was basically rubbish, because the delivery guys do what they want. He also told me that out of the list, I was supposed to be the 17th delivery out of 25 that day, but that again, the delivery guys are free to do what they want.


Fast forward to a quarter past nine this evening. It's past their delivery times, and I'm more then a little worried and ticked off. They haven't called to say they would be late, or even that they would be coming. Call back the compaint center. Wait for 15 minutes on hold, to be told that they DON'T EVEN HAVE MY FRIDGE IN STOCK! Meaning they don't have it in the truck. It will take another week (at least) before they have news on when it will be in stock. Yet they graciously offer to offset the 50.00$ delivery cost. WHAT?? They made me miss a day of work, and the hassle of calling sears 3 times, yet they can only offer to remove the delivery charge?? I asked to speak three times to a higher supervisor, only to be told I would be wasting my time. After the third time, I was told I was already speaking to the highest supervisor (she couldn't tell me that in the beginning????) I admit I was quite rude at this point, but I was standing there, bawling because of my rage, and all she could do was say 'We'll call you when the fridge arrives.'


I am highly pissed off right now, and first thing in the morning I plan on first calling and speaking with the HEAD supervisor to lodge a complaint, then heading back to the Sears store where the fridge was initially purchased, and get a refund. I will then make my way to Corbeil, and buy a fridge from professionals. I've had my fair share of Sears and their idiotic staff, and thier empty promises. I also plan on taking this to the BBB, and any other place that gives consumers a voice, to help others from getting rooked by crooks.
