Water Meter Reading Neglect Causes Accident
Bermex, Inc.
Marietta, GA 30066
US

I am writing you this because of an accident that took place at my residence on 06/26/2008 shortly after Bermex, Inc Ken Saxton's employee had taken a water meter reading on 06/25/2008.

The iron cast lid was left open and pointing up from the grass and it caused a total loss to my lawn mower, as I mowed the area the next morning. The hit was so severe..(I found out later from an estimate at a service shop)...that it bent the main crank shaft and cracked the engine block. I was very lucky that the blade didn't come off and cut off my legs!

I have had several phone conversations with Ken Saxton (supervisor of the reading team) and although at one point he asked me to take the mower to a shop for an estimate, is refusing to admit even a part of his fault, stating I should have seen the Lid through the grass.

My $420.00 Lawn mower is totaled, I nearly escaped from getting seriously hurt, and yet Ken will not even offer me a dollar to compensate for this.

This is very upsetting and the fact that Cobb County’s 3rd party vendor can get away with anything, shows me that Cobb County Water does not enforce quality and responsibility standards with companies that they do business.

I don't work for Bermex but do work for another meter reading company and I'm tired of people always complaning about us.We have to put up with dogs that are running loose and can't use pepper spray because the dog's owner will complain if we spray the dog that is trying to attack us.Then people complain that we drive erratic, yes we do because sometimes we are placed on new routes. Then we have to put up with meters behind bushes which is a violation, but because the utility doesn't want to make the customer mad they ignore it.

Just suck it up,you should have seen the lid in the grass.
