Directv Cancellation Fee
|
DVR Non-Contract Directv US Directv took 356.20 out of my bank account without any authorization. When I called, they said it was because I did not fulfill my 24 month contract I signed on my DVR. I asked for a copy of this contract and she emailed me the Directv consumer agreement. This had no mention of a 24 month contract. I waited on the phone and pointed this out to her. She said if I wanted a copy of my contract, I would have to have my attorney contact their legal department. I have been a Directv customer since June 2004. The only reason I had to cancel was because I moved to a new community that faces the wrong direction for me to receive service. She also mentioned because my husband called in to cancel our service, this automatically gave them permission to charge my debit card, my card, my account, with my name on it. Not likely! It just goes to show what loyalty to a company will get you. After being a huge Directv supporter for the last 4 years, I am going to do everything in my power to make sure consumers realize the lack of concern this company truly shows for its customers. I just want my refund on this fee for this fictitious contract. Then maybe one day I will consider forgiving the company and going back to them. You can't sue them it's in their customer agreement. How to get your money back is also in their customer agreement. It takes effort, but can be done. Too much to write here. State that you are no longer with the company and never authorized a charge to your card. It works EVERY time. I am getting over whelmed by the RUDE operaters and the lask of service? I can not afford to be on hold any longer and fear I may lose my job because the only time the 800 number works is during business hours. I rarely use this word, but I HATE DirecTV and would NEVER suggest someone sign up with them!!!!!! I had the DVR and service for 2 years, and cancelled after the contract period would have expired. When I called to cancel, I was told that I was not under a contractual obligation and therefore wouldn't have a fee. On the contrary, I was charged a cancellation fee of $125 within 2 days. After calling numerous times, and speaking with so many rude and misinformed reps, none of them could tell me why I was charged the fee. I even had one have the audacity to tell me that even though I wasn't under contract, my reason for cancelling wasn't valid, which was because I moved into an apt and was unable to transfer the service. Who determines what's a valid reason? I should be able to cancel if I didn't like their logo. That's my perogative, and there's no contract that states I'm to be charged for that decision. Each time I called, I got transfered to a new dept and at least 4 people later, was told that it needed to be escalated to another dept, who is conveniently not accessible by phone, and I would have to wait an additional 7 days for a resolution. It's been 3 weeks now. One of the problems I had was when i canceled they turned it over to a collection agency within a week-and-a-half although the law as stated on the basck of their statement was that I had 60 days in which to dispute the statement and they could not take action until then. The excuse was that since I was canceling I only had 45 days in which to dispute it. I asked the CSR to tell me where that was on the back of the statement. I have a small book typed of the problems I had with this company. Illegal turning over of my account to a collection agency when I disputed the amount of a cancellation statement. Within two weeks after I received the statement and after I had disputed it they turned it over to a collection agency. I have a whole litany of problems I had with ths company. I was informed they have their own laws and I believe it. I received rudeness, misinformation, lack of living up to the terms of their contract which I never signed which is illegal. Getting different stories from CSR's to the same question. Constant phone calls which accomplished nothing. You are definitely at their mercy and they will tell you anything tur or not. I did not receive the services I was offered and since I canceled for that reason i paid for it. I've tried to cancel 3 times, only to have them hang up on me or my wife. Now they finally say they will cancel, but only after an extra $249. And now I am concerned because they have my credit card number. They can't show me the contract either. I can't wait until these guys go out of business.
