warranty not honored

My brother bought my elderly mom a new GE whirlpool cookstove, which has a 1 yr warranty. The oven doesn't work, but she lost the receipt. Lowe's won't fix it without the receipt. We know the date it was bought, & I know a former employee who says they keep records in the computer of sales. I emailed the main company & they said they can't help me.
