Vonage cost me thousands and I never once made nor received a call with the company.

I signed up for Vonage under the conditions that I would have uninterrupted phone, internet, and fax service. When my internet was cut off, they told me that I should have had a "dry loop". My current internet provider was now cut off, and I was charged a cancellation fee. Over the course of four months I was strung along with no service, but promises that everything would be alright. Don't worry. I was told on three separate occasions that "by the end of this call, your problem will be taken care of". They kept giving me extra trial months until I had service.

Too make a long story "fairly" short, I was charged for six months of phone and fax service. I never once made nor received a call with Vonage. I never sent nor received a fax. I cancelled to stop the bleeding, until I could resolve things. I received nothing but empty promises, and automated responses. I, later found out that they had not cancelled my account, but since I cancelled through their website, and not from my email account, I had no documentation of this. They charged a cancellation fee on top.

I spent hundreds of dollars on my cell phone bills because Vonage left me with no phone. I lost thousands of dollars in business, because I'm a salesperson with no internet, home phone, or fax. I must have been an optimist, because my Vonage fax number was on my new business cards.

I disputed the charges, and my credit card company took some of them off my bill. Vonage kept putting the charges right back on. After a while, Mastercard was tired of dealing with it.

I spent over 24 hours on the phone with various Vonage representatives over this time period. Although some were nice, my situation was never even considered (let alone resolved).

That's why I just contacted the Better Business Bureau. Let's see what happens. If anyone needs help disputing Vonage, or utilizing the Bureau, please contact me. Until my situation is resolved, I'm dedicating my free time to make sure that bullies like this don't take advantage of good people. The more people we get together, the easier it gets.

You people are idiots.

First of all, Vonage does NOT provide internet service. Vonage is a phone service. Their ads and website state that a broadband connection is required.

Secondly, Vonage has no control over when your prior phone provider will release your numbers. Many phone providers intentionally delay the release of phone numbers when customers request that their new phone provider port the phone number(s) from them. This is done to make the new phone provider look bad, but it is mainly done to frustrate the former customer.

So grow up all of you, and stop slamming Vonage. Vonage provides an excellent serivce and is still the best bang for your buck.

I recently signed up for Vonage in March of 08. They promised me 2 months free for two phone lines with no activation fee. All I had to pay was for the phone adapter and shipping which came to 27.08. Andrea said she would transfer both lines from Comcast and I wouldn't have to do a thing. My second line is a fax line. She told me after the two months are up call back and turn it into a dedicated fax line for a fee of 9.99. I thought that was a great deal. I got my adapter on the 15th of March and called Vonage to find out when my service was going to be activated. They informed me it would be on the 21st. Just to be sure I called Comcast to verify this information and they confirmed it. So far so good, right? Wrong! I plugged my equipment in and everything was working and on the 25th I decided to look at my account online. I noticed that only 1 line was coming up. They didn't transfer my fax. I called them and I explained to them my conversation with Andrea. He told me it must have been an oversight and he could have it transfered in about 3-4 days but can only give me 1 month free. I told him he has to stick with the origional agreement I was given by Andea. He refused. I was upset and told him I would call back at a later time. I called back on the 27th and talked to Serina and she offered me the same deal but they want to charge me a 1 time charge of 1.83 and will give me another months free. But that is already what I have. Now with that I should have 3 months free on my fax line. Plus to top it all off my dad refered me to Vonage and we should qualify for the "refer-a-friend" program where he gets 2 months free and so do I. They don't want to honor that either. I 6told Serina I was going to file a claim with the FCC and she could care less. But I did do it right after I got off the phone with her. The FCC says they want to hear from people like us. Just google FCC and go to customer complaints and fill out form 2000. You also write to your Attorney General's Office as well. The more that we complain about this company the more that we will be heard. Plus Vonage has a pending loss suit against them from Verizon.Maybe if you mention that to them they might listen to you. Also ask for your taped conversations because by some state laws they have to give transcrits of them to you. Good luck everyone.

I AM EXPERIENCEING WHAT YOU HAVE WITH VONAGE.ordered new business sevice with At&T I received a coupon in the mail vonage service $24.99 unlimited.I called to transfer sevice to vonage from AT&T.I was required to cancel with in 30 days, but wasnt sure until now what the ratifications and werent clear until I had to purchase a devise in order to receive dial tone.I was also informed after that they donot provide high speed service and was told I needed to contact comcast. After two weeks i was informd bu comcast I couldnt get service through them in the building I was in.During all the 30 days I was rushed in all ways to make this service work for me. I tried to cancel and was advised by a rep it needs to be in written form and faxed in.During all the time waiting for a reply I decide to call when I notice charges much more than $ 24.99,and had returned the devise in which i never open, used or even rceived call or never made an out going call.I fianlly spoke to a representinve after bieng tossed around to many representaives who couldnt help me,in tears pleading for help to cancel the account so I do not have to pay for service I dont use.I felt It was set up fraud, because as I cried tears in dismay she was still trying to sell e product.By the end I was told If I cancel I owe a $99.00 cancel fee,I thought during the 30 day free trial the only thing i may getcharged for whould be the devise If I didnt turm It in By 30 days.I am so very appauled by this.I paid for the devise by credit card and never consented to this being a primry way to pay for my service monthly,it which i am stuck paying for every month unless I pay $99.00 to cancel. What phone company other than a cell line charges de activate fees. This is crazy.I never received a bill by mail and nor was I prompted to sign in on line to cancel alltogether. If I had be required to do so this way to cancel Than I would have expected my self to been advised as I ordered service not at the cancel point.I never recmy $58.00 for returning the un opened devise box,I was charged 38.00 a month since Jan/08 and now I have to pay $99.00 This isnt fair, and along the way I had AT&T who claimes they never received a transfer from vonage in teh first place. They help you t pass the 30 day and refrain from informing you your on a contract, instead of just paying for service. The representative informed me I should have received an email welcome,I didnt and asked what email did they have on me,they were off a number and I never received an account number or a welcome anything.I was set up in a fraud TRAP ALERT
