scootersfactory go-kart warranty issues

go-kart roketa GK-01 scootersfactory 700 S. Rochester Ave. #D Ontario, Ca 91761 US scootersfactory.com In Dec. 2006 I purchased a Go-kart for my children over the phone. I also purchased an extended warranty for the kart. The Go-kart arrived without all it's pieces and no paperwork. After a month of e-mails and calls, I recieved missing parts but no paperwork (manual, assembly instructions or warranty info). I continued to e-mail to no avail. Finally called a mechanic early March and had him assemble it. After very limited use the throttle cable broke (due to poor quality and bad design)and go-kart drove itself empty into a pond. A call placed to the company resulted with claim denied. They have tried to blame the accident on us and claim we voided the warranty. Something they can't prove because it's false. I suggest anyone dealing with this company post complaints with BBB (1-909-835-6064)as well as the CA Attorney General (1916-322-3360) and the CA department of Insurance (1-800-927-4357)as it is ILLEGAL to sell extended warranties over the phone or internet. Hold this Company responsible for their actions. The reason for our name change was due to the number of families searching and lading on adult content due to the (xxx) in our name. We made a decision to change our business name based on improving our customer to land on appropriate site. The buyer who submitted the above review placed an order for a 150cc adult go kart intended for experienced rider over the age of 16, as stated on our vehicle advertisement. The actual engine size of the go kart is 124cc. And an experienced buyer who knows about vehicle engines families will know that engine sizes are often grouped or rounded to the nearest class such as: 50cc, 150cc, 250cc, 600cc and etc. This go kart with 124cc engine is grouped and classed in the 150cc engine family. The incident surrounding the above claim is the result of buyer purchasing an adult go kart intended for an experienced rider over the age of 16, allowed her inexperienced 13 year old son drive the vehicle without proper training or maintenance to the vehicle. Her 13 year old boy panicked, lost control of the go kart, jumped out of the vehicle and the go kart ultimately ran into a nearby lake. Thankfully the boy was not injured. The buyer claimed the cause of this incident was with a defective throttle cable which caused the go kart to continue to accelerate. We requested buyer to bring in her vehicle to our repair facility for warranty repair and inspection at no cost. Buyer refused and would settle for nothing less than a full refund and to keep the damaged unit. Buyer has not cooperated with our request to examine the unit for her claim on the defective throttle cable. And buyer has not provided proof of maintenance by a certified technician as required for warranty like the cars we own and drive everyday. For safety and according to our vehicle use agreement, the buyerâs 13 year old boy should have never been in the vehicle in the first place. The go kart is equipped with foot brakes, hand brakes, engine âshut offâ or âkill switchâ and ignition switch which can also be used to stop the go kart from accelerating at any time. An experience or trained rider would have known to use any one of those options âifâ the throttle cable was to become stuck or defective. The buyer allowed an untrained 13 year old boy to drive a vehicle meant for an experienced adult. The boy panicked, did not use proper stopping techniques, jumped out of the go kart and the vehicle ultimately ran itself into a nearby lake. We are thankful the boy is not injured and have requested buyer to bring in the unit for warranty service and repair at no cost. Buyer has refused all our request and only insist on a full refund and a free go kart. She has falsely accused our company of not honoring our warranty, whereas we believe she did not honor our riding requirements for this unit. We are still negotiating with buyer to come to a satisfactory resolution. We will keep you posted on our progress. We, at Scooters Factory are good people with loving families and kids. We continue to strive to be better each day to offer great products, value, service and satisfaction to our customers. We have serviced over 40,000 customers in the past 4 ½ years weâve been in business. Our goal is to satisfy all customers and we have done so. There are many positive feedbacks from satisfied customers which can be found on public forums. Itâs unfortunately we experience and will probably experience a handful of incidents where our service and support are refused and weâre approached with unreasonable claims. Our BBB rating for Scooter Factory is CC with 41 claims to date. We are not proud of that. However, if you compare the ratio of 40,000+ satisfied customers vs. 41, weâre talking about 0.001% incidents where we will need to improve. If you search the BBB claims on Honda dealers, Yamaha dealers or any other major brand dealerships, you will find that they too have complaints as do all dealerships with significant volume. We are not perfect, but we offer the best in the entry level, discount driven import motorsports industry. We hope to service you in the near future and join the thousands who have benefited from service, savings and value.
