HSBC Credit Card Blunders

Hi

I was amazed to see that I received an envelope with my name and address with HSBC credit card delivered to me within some 15 days of application. But the reality of HSBC's security and PRIVACY of customer information became clear when I opened the envelope and found 2 credit cards with Rs 84000 limit for someone from Hyderabad (The credit card letter had his name and address, but the envelope had a sticker with my name on Blue-Dart sticker).

On calling the customer care, I got to that in a similar way my card was delivered to someone else (which can be used it if he/she wishes to).

This is the first time I interacted with HSBC and I could not have expected similar kind of RESPONSIBLE service from any other bank.

I called them.

After transferring my call to different departments of the customer care,( saying I am not the right person to talk about this, guess they have separate dept for wrong delivery of cards) finally someone listened to me and asked to get the recieved cards cancelled.

Further, on asking my card number, I was told that we cannot tell card number for PRIVACY reasons. (I dont understand what was private after sending my card to some X).

Finally, adding to my woes, when I asked them to cancel my credit card and dont send any HSBC card in future, he told to talk to someone from cancellation department. It was like a torture for me after arguing for around half an hour and I hanged the call.

Dont know they have cancelled my card or not.

Any advice is appreciated.
