Microwave Superba kitchenaid US I have owned a kitchenaid superba microwave for 3 years and at 16 months the light bulb burns out for a replacement charge of $200. Light bulb not accessable must pull microwave out from cabinet. A month later the door springs break. Was contacted for a recall on the wiring harness (for starting fires)and had the door spring replaced and now 16 months later the door spring breaks again. Mechanical junk. Beware of consumer reports it rates this unit high??????????Went to kitchenaid web site and so far no response From: Message Author (click here to email author)Date: Thursday, 03-Jan-08 03:56:53 CST Business: Reply Online Consumer: Comment On This Comment On ThisI built a new home and installed all Kitchenaid Architectural Stainless Steel appliances Combo Subra microwave, high end dishwasher and 48" Refrig. I have the same problem. First the Microwave control panel died, it was under warranty but $1200 to relace the circuit board, then door springs on the microwave broke and then a week later the springs in the dishwasher broke $350 only after asking the repair man to give me a break (They wanted to charge over $400. Now the light in the microwave is burnt out and I have not replaced it because for a $6 item it will cost $200 to replace it. Kitchenaid should fire its entire engineering staff and start over. Then the executives should start standing behind their products and refund the cost for defective designs. I would not recommend their products to anyone. Avoid this manufacturer at all cost.
