RESUME WRITING BEST RESUMES OF NEW YORK 75 Jefferson Street East Islip, NY 11730 US http://www.e-bestresumes.com Totally Unbelievable! This woman, Ann Baehr, has stolen my resume and is now passing it off as something she wrote. I found out about this when I saw my own resume on her website. I mean it was really my resume, word-for-word. Well you know what? Lets be fair: She had changed the name at the top and put '555-555-5555' as the contact phone number. She didn't even bother to change the font or the layout. Maybe her scanner doesn't recognize text too well, so the only option she has is to cut-n-paste. I doubt that she even knows how to format a document, let alone publish one. After the initial shock, I got angrier and angrier with each word I saw. So I calmed down and decided to email her to let her know that she was posting my work on her site. I said that though this may be just an honest mistake, she in fact did not have my permission to use my resume. No response. Two weeks later: I emailed her again, this time with a little bit stronger language, asking specifically for the company to contact me. No response. Another week or so later: I emailed a third time with a very strongly worded, bright-red, size 48 point font email demanding that the company remove my resume from their website unless they wished to have me proceed with legal action. I got a phone call from the owner of the company, Ann Baehr; within about 1/2 hour. After the introductions, Ms. Baehr said that she wanted to 'personally' call and make sure that no one was using my name to try and hurt me. (?) Maybe because in her mind she had used my resume to try to hurt me? I don't know. So I said, no it was me who contacted her. I then explained the situation. Her response started with this obviously-fake shock at my accusation. 'I really just can't figure out WHAT you are talking about!' So I directed her to look at the link I had sent in all three emails. She went to the link. She then stumbled and stuttered out a bunch of nonsense which segued into a bogus fairy tale that went like this: 'OH yeah...I remember this customer...' (Once Upon A Time...) A man and his brother came into her office, each a handsome prince in his own right...No wait... ...EACH ordering their own personalized resumes, and this particular resume (the one I only THOUGHT was mine you see), was one that SHE had written for one of these brothers. She then babbled on about how the other brother wanted something TOTALLY different, one was in construction and the other one was the COMPLETE opposite, and was a banker. So that's why she remembers them so vividly (11 years later). Keep in mind that all of this takes place with me holding the phone 4 inches away from my ear because she was propelling her assorted gabble at me in this louder-than-it-needed-to-be, totally obnoxious east coast accent. At this point, I was still trying to be reasonable, so I tried to give her an out...a way to save face since she seemed to be putting a lot of effort into this massive lie. I also already knew from experience raising teenagers, that she wasn't going to back down from her lie anytime soon. So my approach was basically: 'Ok, well I'm not going to argue with you about the brothers *eyes rolling* ...But I'm telling you I know I wrote this resume. I have the original dated file INCLUDING my handwritten editing notes from when I wrote this 3 years ago.' She offered no response so I continued...'Maybe one of the brothers somehow received it after I had sent out a batch, and then brought it into your office.' No response. So I continued. 'I think the best way to resolve this is that you just take the resume off of your website.' She just laughed and said 'I don't think so.' As you can imagine, the conversation went downhill from there. I know that she is dead wrong here, but I have to say that she stood her ground with such a display of false confidence that had I not already known the truth: That this woman had stolen my work...it really would have seemed authentic. I mean it's obvious that this criminal has had a lot of practice here. Then suddenly the tide turned. There was a lull in the conversation, and I broke the silence by offering this: 'By the way, Ann' 'I should mention that I am still in contact with many of the Corporations that I have sent my resume to; Corporate Business Partners who still work with me. These are relationships that I have nurtured, on an Executive Level, from about three years ago, WHEN I WROTE THIS RESUME, until today.' 'The main reason that I stay in contact with them is that I still do business with many of them as a consultant. This means that they have to keep my information on file.' 'This includes my personal information like my social security number (so they can pay me) AS WELL AS my resume.' 'And many of them have kept the stamped and dated envelope in which the resume first arrived. The envelope is usually is stapled to the back of the document, as a common practice.' It gets better... 'The post-dated envelope matches the Executive Grey Linen paper on which I had had my original resume laser-printed. Three years ago. You know...when I wrote it.' Uh-oh. So she stayed quiet while she listened to all of this, and then I was done talking. She still stayed utterly silent. I mean dead silent. For more than a minute. I mean I was having to say, 'Hello?' a couple of times. She then stumbled around a little bit, and having no reasonable response she proceeded to launch into this yelling rampage of pretty much just nonsense, but also some thinly-veiled, ridiculous threats. So I just ended the call. A few words come to mind... FORGERY, THEFT, FRAUD, PLAGIARISM, and UNFAIR BUSINESS PRACTICES. Are there any more? Class? Anyone? HOW about... Falsification, Infringement, Literary Theft, Piracy, Deceit, Graft, Sham, Misrepresentation, Counterfeiting, Invasion of Privacy, and Perjury. Ok. The *most* likely scenario here is that Ms. Baehr advertises for different employment positions in different nationwide publications, posing as a potential employer. Then when honest folks send in a resume, she just scans the good ones and posts them online as a 'sample' of her 'great work' and 'literary talent.' Give me a break. I guess it's a compliment to me and my writing skills that she is so desperate to be able to continue to take credit for my work? Anyway, I'm still pissed. Please do not pay this connivinig theif any money; she is a con-artist and an imposter. Prior to January 20, 2008, three days before the bogus report was put online, Ms. Baehr and Ms. Carrado never had contact with one another. On this date, Ms. Baehr received an email riddled with ridiculously large red letters, demanding immediate attention. It was so bizzare, in fact, that Ms. Baehr thought it was someone playing a prank on the sender, Kathryn Carrado. Especially since it did not include a contact telephone number. Ms. Baehr conducted an Internet search and located Ms. Carrado on LinkedIn. Ms. Baehr called her immediately to bring the email to her attention, only to learn that Ms. Carrado was the one who sent the email. Needless to say, Ms. Baehr was taken aback. In all of her fifteen years running a well-respected resume writing service, she never experienced anything so unfounded as this false accusation. Ms. Baehr engaged in conversation with Ms. Carrado in a friendly manner, attempting to clear the air, soon realizing that Ms. Carrado was far from friendly. The conversation quickly soured and Ms. Baehrs mood conformed to Ms. Carrados gray disposition. Following a strained discussion between the two women, Ms. Baehr questioned the nature of the allegations of copyright violation, and offered proof of her ownership -- which was not accepted by Ms. Carrado. Nor did Ms. Carrado offer proof of her ownership or possession except to say she had a printed copy of her resume somewhere. It must be noted that Ms. Carrados claim of her resume being plagiarized refers ONLY TO THE SUMMARY SECTION at the top of the resume. Ms. Carrado stated on the phone and in her Rip Off Report that she wrote the resume in question three years ago. Ms. Baehr explained that she wrote the resume more than three years ago - in April of 2001 to be exact - and has official proof, both electronically and from the client. OFFICIAL ELECTRONIC PROOF: The Internet makes a cached copy (PDF) of every document on the Internet which is a permanent archive. The site is called the WayBackMachine. Also, when a file is created on a personal computer, the File Properties box indicates a "created" date that cannot be changed. The earliest PDF of the resume in question was created on March 21, 2003 by the WayBackMachine -- nearly FIVE YEARS AGO -- two full years BEFORE Ms. Carrado supposedly wrote her resume. The PDF created by the WayBackMachine is on the InternetArchive.com server and cannot be accessed by anyone, not even by the website owner of the cached documents. PROOF OF RESUME OWNERSHIP CAN BE FOUND HERE: The resume that Ann Baehr wrote in April of 2001 was officially archived on March 21, 2003. http://web.archive.org/web/20030418002126/www.e-bestresumes.com/dirbusmgt.pdf Ann Baehr suggested to Ms. Carrado that perhaps she hired a resume writer three years ago who visited the e-bestresumes.com website and used the sample to write Ms. Carrados resume. Ms. Carrado rejected that suggestion, stating that she is a professional writer (in a less than convincing tone in her voice). If not, then Ms. Carrado is the one who visited the e-bestresumes.com site and plagierized the resume three years ago. When Ms. Baehr pressed Ms. Carrado to confirm similarities between her resume and the resume in question from the point of "Professional Experience" downward, Ms. Carrado responded that she "did not get that far" in reading the resume. At that point Ms. Baehr was further perplexed as to how Ms. Carrado could claim that Ms. Baehr plagiarized her resume when Ms. Carrado never read beyond the first few lines at the top of the resume. The resume in question is fully representative of Ann Baehrs client, whose profession at the time the resume was written was a business operations / sales management professional in the automotive tools industry and who was, at the time, a general manager who led the start up of a leading computer training center on Long Island. On Ms. Carrados profile at LinkedIn, the "keywords" listed include sales and automotive. Perhaps she did see the entire resume afterall, which extensively covers automotive sales experience specific to the clients career track. Ms. Carrado most likely thought the profile was a good match and stole it for her own resume. It must also be noted that Ms. Carrados elaborate blow-by-blow account of how the conversation between her and Ms. Baehr transpired was completely exaggerated and erroneous. Her rambling account of the so-called brothers was never described to her that way by Ms. Baehr, as Ms. Carrado reported. Ms. Baehr explained the two clients were business partners in the same industry, who followed each other from job to job throughout their careers, and whose resumes were prepared the same week in April of 2001. Ms. Carrado was informed that the client of the resume in question came to the office with his wife, who is a witness to the resume development and is in possession of the original resume. The timeline was seven years ago -- not eleven, and the occupation was as stated above -- not construction (she was told the client led the start up of a facility). It can only be hoped that if she is a professional writer, that she writes better than she listens. Clearly, Ms. Carrado fails to accurately state facts. She also fails to present adequate proof of her claim that the resume is her original work. Her so-called handwritten notes, if they exist, were most likely produced when she plagiarized Ms. Baehrs work. If Ms. Carrado is a professional writer, what are her credentials? Ms. Baehrs credentials include the designation of Certified Professional Resume Writer. KATHRYN CARRADOS PREJUDICE AGAINST EAST COAST ACCENTS: Those who have ties to the east coast seeking to retain the services of Kathryn Carrado to purchase or refinance properties on the west coast should be aware of the prejudice remark made by Kathryn Carrado in her bogus report in which she stated that Ms. Baehr has an "obnoxious east coast accent" RIPOFFREPORT.COM IS BOGUS AND UNDER SCRUTINY The bogus reports at RippOffReports.com are not researched or validated. The quality of this site can only be compared to that of an uruly forum. In fact, the website itself states that they no longer accept rebuttles for this very reason. Instead, they offer advocacy services for a fee! That is how they make money on other peoples pain and suffering. Anyone can make false, damaging allegations about any company at this site. In fact, according to several reputable sources online, this website and its CEO are under scrutiny for its unethical practices. This is the website that Kathryn Carrado used as her weapon of choice to freely and falsely accuse Ms. Baehr of stealing all of the resumes she is hired to write. Ms. Baehr has thousands of clients, from 1993 to present, who have sat in front of her before, during and after the resume writing process and participated in telephone resume development and revision processes. Ms. Baehr has many testimonials on her website and would be able to obtain many, many more to substantiate this fact. In addition to Ms. Baehrs CPRW credential, she is a professional word processor. She held the position as Lead Word Processor for several years at Corporate Entenmanns in Bay Shore, NY. Contrary to what Ms. Carrado stated in her bogus report, not only can Ms. Baehr format a resume but she has also developed her own website, e-bestresumes.com, without the assistance of a web designer. Ms. Baehr wondered how Ms. Carrado knew of the e-bestresumes.com website from the thousands of resume writing websites on the Internet. In conducting a Google search on partial phrases from the resume summary, the e-bestresumes.com website does not come up in the search engines, so it is unlikely that Ms. Carrado found the e-bestresumes.com site that way. It seems she was already aware of it. Upon further research using parts of the phrases in the resume summary, the website LinkedIn came up, and showed the summary as being part of someone elses resume. Ms. Carrado is a member of the LinkedIn network. It is likely that Ms. Carrado saw she was not alone in copying the resume summary in question, and is in fact one of a handful of job seekers who have copied the same resume summary for their own resumes. Being that one of these individuals is a job seeker on the LinkedIn network, Ms. Carrado was most likely embarrassed. Being a businesswoman who promotes herself on the Internet as having a good reputation, must have panicked and decided to take action some how, some way, to save face. Ms. Carrado threatened Ms. Baehr on the telephone that she had one week to pull the sample off her website. With proof in hand, Ms. Baehr refused. Immediately upon hanging up, Ms. Baehr emailed Ms. Carrado the following: "Now that I know this email is legit and not someone trying to hurt you, I will respond to it -- based on our conversation . . . If and when you take action, I think it is important that you know that the resume I wrote was written well over three years ago and I have documented proof of such. Not only do I have proof on my own computer and on my clients end, but I have a cache of the actual resume that was stored on the Internet with the date that the cache was created that proves the resume was written more than three years ago. You would have had to written your resume much longer than three years ago for this to have happened. If you would like to discuss this in a civil, non-threatening manner, I will be more than happy to tell you the date I created the resume and the location and date that you can find my official, online proof" This communication and professional offer to present proof of burden was ignored. Instead, Kathryn Carrado filed a Rip Off Report in an attempt to tarnish Ann Baehrs good name and reputation for excellence and integrity amongst her peers in the careers industry and thousands of clients who have received quality customized resumes. If Ms. Carrado really believes she is the owner of the resume, why hasnt she sought legal council as she so threatened? Filing an Internet-based Rip Off Report is a cheap shot and has no validity. Ms. Baehrs proof of burden certainly speaks to her credibility and will hopefully reassure her potential clients that she maintains the highest level of integrity and professionalism that her thousands of clients have come to know and trust since 1993.
