Collection Notice from Afni, Inc.

I have received a collection notice from an agency named [Afni, Inc. PO Box 3427, Bloomington, IL 61702-3427 (888) 257-1585, www.afnicollections.com]. This notice represents a bill in the amount of $706.79 for a tel #718-599-9721 with the original creditor 'Bell Atlantic'.

I have a cell and home phones for years with the same telephone number. I have never had any other telephone no. Nothing on this bill seems correct to me, except my name and address. I called today to speak to Afni and spoke to someone whose said her name was Linda. I have called several times and that same person, Linda keeps answering the phone. She wanted me to give her information, which I was not going to give. I give her the account no. and had to hang up the phone. I am asking the Complaints Board to look into this company and where they get their line of business. I have called the phone no., only to find that this telephone no. is not in service, of course. I need some help in rectifying this problem. I am sure that someone else has had the same complaint. THESE PEOPLE NEED TO BE INVESTIGATED IMMEDIATELY!!!!!

I just recieved a bill for 231.44 for the number 315-735-945222, which first of all is totally impossile. Second of all I've never had this number. You really need to recheck this information. I have no way of paying some one elsess bill. Ms. Main

I just recieved a collection notice from Afni, for an old phone number i dont remember having and it isnt on my credit report. I have a credit alert company with my bank. I had a funny feeling about it. It doesnt state dates the phone was installed and is just a bill that states justpay. I was so relieved I went online to look all this up. This phone acc is with qwest and i haven;t used them in years. I will call them to make sure. But my credit company stated they would be on my credit report. This is more than likely from my bankrupcy from years ago. And they cant come after me for bygone depts. Thank you for speaking out.
