DirecTV - Service contract is 12 months but due to my receiever DirecTV extended it to 24 months w/o informing me

I signed up for 1 Year of Service which expires March 2008. When I called to inform DirecTV I was not renewing I was told my contract had been extended to 24 months due to the receiver I have. At no time did anyone inform me that depending on what kind of receiver I had my service contract would be extended another 12 months. I have filed complaints with both the CA Attorney General's Office and the BBB since the DirecTV agent refused to assist me. I am now working with the Consumer Fraud division of San Francisco Govt. DirecTV states I will be fined $150 even though I have fulfilled the terms of my 1 Year Service Agreement.
