Johnson Cut & Trim (Tree Removal/ Tree Service)
|
Johnson Cut and Trim Lakeland, Fl 33813 US I received a written price of $2,150 from Johnson's Cut & Trim to cut down an oak tree, grind stump, remove stump mulch, and remove and haul off all debris including some decorative concrete around the tree. After the first day, Johnson had cut about half the tree down. That evening he asked if he could get $900 to pay his crew. Against my better judgement I paid him $900. He had done work in our neighborhood and I assumed he was reputable since he had been in business a long time. The next morning he told me he was leaving the job unless I paid him another $600. According to him, he had underbid the job. Rather than having him leave the job and find another tree company, I verbally renegotiated the contract amount and agreed to pay him $2,500. In the process of removing the tree, he used one of my Maple trees (approximately 40ft tall) to use as leverage in pulling down the tree trunk of the oak. He pulled my Maple tree completely down and his crew made the comment that it wasn't any good because it had shallow roots and that now I was getting a two for one deal. I didn't want a two for one deal. I wanted my beautiful Maple tree. In felling the oak tree he made numerous ruts and holes in my yard which he refused to fill in. He refused to remove the concrete curbing around the tree and most of it is still in my yard. After the stump was ground, he refused to remove the mulch as agreed, and told me it would cost me another $300 for him to remove it. In the original agreement he said that I would only have one garbage bag of mulch remaining. I had to hire someone to come in with a tractor and level out my yard. I paid $525 to have the tractor work done. After the tractor work was finished I discovered that much of the stump was still there. Now I am having to contact the man Johnson hired to grind the stump to see if he will come back and finish the job. Other decorative concrete around flower beds was damaged when his crew removed it to get their trucks in my back yard. He also left this concrete curbing stacked in the yard and refused to put it back around the flower beds. He damaged my phone line and another orange tree in my yard. He removed a small tree in my yard to get his trailer in to remove the limbs. He didn't put it back. I would never recommend Johnson Cut & Trim to anyone. He never compensated me for any damages to, or loss of, my property. They are not in the tree business, they are in the scamming business.
