Palm Chevrolet Ocala Florida Scam

auto repair Palm Chevrolet Ocala Florida Scam US I took my 1990 convertible Corvette roadster to Palm Chevrolet because it was running rough. Palm Chevy are the self proclaimed "corvette experts" ...yea right. The slick service manager was really to bored to listen to me describe the problem. So I eventually got a call and was told that the electronic fuel pump was acting up and not pushing the correct amount of fuel. I asked what the difference was and was told it was off by about .2 or some minor fractional amount. When I questioned this I was told that it could be enough to cause the problem. Again being busy I told them go ahead and fix it. I paid over $500.00 and picked the car up. It had not been test driven and within a few blocks I had the same problem as before. If you read my other posts this will sound familiar. So back we go and again reluctantly the service manager took the car back in. Some dirty looking bearded hillbilly came out of the back and took the gas cap off and asked me if the car had been sitting. I asked the mgr if this was the mechanic working on my car. He didnt answer directly. Days later I finally got a call telling me that it was a computer problem and would cost another $500. No one mentioned the unneeded fuel pump so I did. Reluctantly they agreed to fix it for free as the computer was about the same value. I picked the car up and it ran fine. I learned later that the "FUEL PUMP SCAM" is common among repair shops and that any minor variation in the reading is cause to ask the customer to replace it ... 99% of the time needlessly .. then when the car still has the same problem they tell the customer that that was just the first step before they get to the real problem.
