UPS will not deliver my packages!
|
UPS Bozeman, MT 59718 US www.ups.com I had 4 packages scheduled to be delivered 2/21/08. In the past, UPS has reliably and consitently left my packages for me without signature outside my door or on a hall closet in my condo building. I work full time and am not home when UPS attempts deliveries in most cases. I arrived home to find a notice informing me that I must "sign here" to have my packages delivered and that they would return the following day. Not a problem. I did so and left the signed notice for the driver. My neighbor, I will add, received a smaller UPS package that day at approximately the same time, which was left outside his door, directly across the hallway from me, and I had had another package delivered by UPS and left for me the day prior with no issues. I can only assume that the driver did not wish to carry my larger, heavier packages up the stairs. The following day, instead of my packages, I was left a new notice stating I must sign IN PERSON to receive my packages. NOT what was stated originally. I first phoned the senders (2 separate companies) who both assured me that they had not sent them 'signature required'. I then phoned the number on the notice and spoke to a representative- I explained the situation, namely that I was not available to accept delivery in person and that I needed my packages left for me, as two of them were of sufficient size that they would not fit in my very small 2 door car, so I would not be able to pick them up at a UPS center without renting a much larger vehicle (after I have already paid for my packages to be delivered to my residence). The national representative stated that she could find no reason that the driver would refuse to leave my packages and ASSURED me that the message would be relayed to the driver and that my packages would be left at my residence as I had requested. I then received a voicemail from a local representative who did not state her name or leave any contact information, in an estremely rude tone of voice, stating that their driver WOULD NOT leave my packages if they were sent "adult signature required" (they weren't, package contents are rabbit food) and 'maybe in the future you should just have your packages held at the facility so you can pick them up if you are UNWILLING to be present in person for delivery'. I have never had a customer service individual from ANY company use such a tone of voice when communicating with me. After the second attempt, I also left a polite note for the UPS driver asking them to please leave at least the two larger packages, as they would not fit in my car and it would be extremely difficult as well as costly for me to arrange to pick them up. I also asked that if they felt they were unable to for some reason, to please let me know why they would not. Of course, I arrive home today for lunch to find yet another notice stating that this was their final delivery attempt and that I needed to sign IN PERSON. No explanation. I must now pay to rent a larger vehicle to pick these packages up at the UPS facility, as I am greatly in need of their contents in the next day or two and so can not have them returned to sender and re-sent via FedEx. I have informed UPS that I will no longer be using their services when it can be avoided, as FedEx and other carriers I have dealt with will reliably and consitently leave packages for me upon request and I can no longer count on them to do so.
