RIPPED OFF ON SHIPPING CHARGES

US buysmartlidz.com Saw the ad on tv early Dec. if you order a set you get one set free, and 1 extra lid., so, I called and ordered two sets (for xmas gifts) at the cost of $9.95 per set plus shipping of $7.95. my cost should have been no more than Tops, $34.00� when I tried to get an answer as to what my total charges were, I got nowhere�(delivery happened well after xmas� got the stuff in January.) The entire call was automated. Push a button or say yes! Or no!, the recording kept wanting to sell me other things, and I continued to say No, then the recording (female voice) said; �please hold for Chef Tony, his recording came on and kept asking me if I wanted his personal knife, I said NO, he then asked if I wanted to order his own special Cutting board and again I said NO..I kept trying to get an Operator to get my total bill, but I got nowhere There was a complaint phone number on the commercial� I called that number to cancel my order and the person on the other line said they handled different commercials but did not know the Smart Lidz�I kept calling that complaint number and eventually got a person who gave me a phone number she had found�I called that number and spoke to an Andrea, she said I was not on their computer, so I assumed that because I hung up, that the order did not go through..she said to keep calling because it was near a week-end.. I did around my 3rd. day of calling, she said that I was in the system and I said to cancel , she said it was too late that they already took the money from my visa � but if I wanted to cancel then I could ship everything back and pay my own shipping, and they would only return $9.95 for the 2 sets�. what they do not tell you up front is that the free set and the extra lid you get with your order has its own shipping charge of $7.95 for each free thing, so that was an additional $7.95 each for the free sets and $7.95 for the free extra lid- - what a rip off.....the order came in ONE BOX, a very light weight box. So my order should have come to 2 times $9.95 (orders) and 2 times $7.95 (shipping) My bill should have been $$35.80 but with the xtra shipping charges for each free item My bill was a total of $67.60 ��what a horrible experience� I am on a very small SS income and that sure hurt��� There is no way to speak to a �live� person if you need to cancel immediately. That should be outlawed..�If you call a �supposedly� complaint number, the people on the other end of the call keep you in the dark, they are simply delaying your cancellation!...In my opinion, this company are thieves����..My wish for them is not good, I wish their business would fail�.that may open their eyes as to what they are doing to us, the little people� From: Message Author (click here to email author) Date: Monday, 25-Feb-08 19:00:36 CST Business: Reply Online Consumer: Comment On This Comment On ThisI too have complained about this co's business practices. On website before you have a chance to review order inclluding Shipping, the order goes thru and there'w no way to cancel. When you get a confirmation it shows an exorbitant shipping charge. Leter they add TAX to your credit charge though the confirmation shows $0 tax. Complaining by phone and e-mail doesn't help. I notified MasterCard and the Better Business Bureau. I complained IMMEDIATELY to MasterCard in writing. When package showed up, despite efforts to CANCEL, I returned it unopened to SENDER. It was accepted for return by the post office.
