Re: G E To Whom This Concerns; We completely remodeled our kitchen & bought a G E Profile Refrigerator. Microwave & a new slide in range. After 1 months after it was installed we noticed a spot that was marred with no stainless steel and it looked bare on the face plate of this range. A spot down through the finish. After calling the company I spoke to a man who for some reason kept repeating to me. Finally reading about the cream you use to clean this type of glass top . Very frustrating , he seemed not able to understand my problem. I kept explaining to him defective, not dirty & spotless clean. A defect with the top control face plate . Finally, I was told a service tech. would come out. This was range is under warranty. We only used a soft cotton cloth & I also have a Bosch stainless steel dish washer & G E Profile stainless steel micro, all fine with no defects. Anyway , a repairman came out & told me I must have used an abrasive substance or cloth , he was rude , he told us it would cost over $300. to fix this "cosmetic problem". He also said they only do this free for 30 days. We refused his offer. Later on we returned to Lowes' , where we had purchased the range. Thank Goodness, our money was returned , they took the stove back. I will never buy a G E product again & replaced the stove with a slide in Bosch . My Mother -In -Law also had a similar problem with this same company but did not fare as well as we did . I wish she had let me try, she is elderly and it was a stove that also was defective , the porcelain finish came off a burner after all new pots before and careful care. The Repairman had a bad attitude , insisting we should have removed it out of the box while our kitchen was being done. I am nto able to do this & my husband although only in his early 50s is handicapped. We were not able to get that stove in until the granite counter tops & cabinets were completed.
