I began by callling the 1-888 number to disconnect service as I was getting service interruption through one of their messages that indicated that I needed to send payment, even though my account was up to date. I would cancel the message and 5 minutes later the message would appear again.

When you try to call customer service, you have to maneuver through a labyrinth of electronic and promotional messages until you are finally told that it will be 5 minutes until someone can speak with you. When I finally got someone on the line, they accidentally dropped the call before they could finish saying, "Hello my name is ----."

I went through this twice and on the third try I was able to get a hold of one of their customer service specialists who tried to dissuade me in my decision to disconnect, only to tell me that he has to transfer my call to an account specialist. I gave the first person I spoke with my reasons for disconnecting.

When I was transferred to account specialist KRISTA...KWW, she wants to know why I'm cancelling and I tell her that I already told someone else my dilemma and she states that she didn't talk to him. I tell her that I want service disconnected and all of a sudden she is able to find notes on her computer screen regarding my conversation with initial customer service representative. She reiterates what I have already told him and I concur.

She begins by offering me one free month of programming; I refuse it; she then offers me two months of programming and I again refuse it. Up to this point she had been very polite and courteous and I was very frustrated at having to be on the phone for over :30 in order to cancel service.

She then tells me that I have to climb on my roof and remove some kind of device from the satellite dish; I told her that I was not about to climb a roof and that they installed the dish so they should come over to remove it. She indicated that she was going to place a code on my cancellation request in order to waive the removal of device from my roof so that I don't get charged $100.

She goes on to say that she will be sending me UPS boxes to my house so that I can ship back the receiver and remote controls. I advise her that they brought the equipment to my house when they were eager to get my business so it is only proper that they pick them up from my house.

She tells me that I have to go and deliver them to a UPS station for shipping and that I have 30 days to ship them otherwise my credit card will be charged for this equipment!! She then tells me that I signed a contract which specifies this information; when I request of copy of the contract she states that it will take 4-6 weeks for it to process but in the meantime I have to ship back the equipment that they delivered to my house when they were courting my business.

KRISTA goes on to say that they have 14 million customers and this is why it takes so long to provide me with a copy of my service contract. In this day and age of technology (i.e.: satellites ???) it would seem that DishNetwork invested some of their monies in keeping computerized records of customer's contracts and would be available upon demand.

This is just another reason why I'm cancelling services with DishNetwork, I will repost any reply I get from DishNetwork.
