Metlife enters wrong info in CLUE insurance database
|
Metlife Auto Insurance Metlife Auto & Home Tampa, FL US I had a car accident in Miami in 2005, my only accident in a 20-year driving career. Unbeknownst to me, Metlife found me 75% at fault (even though the other party ran a red light) and recorded this in the insurance database. They say that they came to this conclusion through their own investigation as the police report assigned no blame, which is typical for South Florida accidents in which there are no injuries. I believe that the assignment of "blame" was the result of "negotiation" between the two insurers, and has no basis in any kind of thorough investigation or the actual facts of the accident. Fast forward 3 years to 2008, when I'm shopping around for car insurance, and insurers penalize me because i had an accident in which i was "found" 75% at fault. Basically, i'm stuck because there was no notification requirement before Metlife entered this negative info in their shared CLUE database and no way for me to appeal Metlife's findings.
