Bamfield Pet Hospital ignorant to animals & out for the money

Banfield Pet Hospital
Amherset, NH
US

Banfield Pet Hospital is out for the money. I was in the area and my dog needed her shots so I went into Pet Smart where Banfield is located, they were inattention to me when I walked in but it was busy. I was sent into a room where someone came in to try and sell me a plan, which would cover today's visit and any other visits in the year, including tarter removal, a short time later to me with the vet, it was his first day on the job and he was unfamiliar with the computer system, he was nice enough. I asked them to give my dog her yearly shots and do a heart worm test, after the examine the vet left and someone came in to tell me I could leave. When I got to the counter I inquired why they had not done the heart worm test, she told me that on the paperwork it said I refused the test (not true). They took my dog out back to do the test and said they would call me the next day. They did call me the next day, I missed the call early in the morning and I tried all day to reach the vet, they said she was busy and could not give me the results of the test. Late that day the vet called me to tell me that my dog had heart worm and lime disease, she was cold and not very understanding. They try to sell you a plan and that is their main focus.

I met with the vet the next day, when I mentioned the plan (thinking this would help me cover the cost of the shots, dental and the heart worm procedure),,, this is what she said "WE ARE NOT GOING TO GIVE A PLAN TO A DOG WITH A DEADLY DISEASE". As cold as that, I had my 16 year old son with me because I was already very upset about the outcome of the test. They gave me a price to treat my dog ,,,, $1,200 yes and I love my dog so much I was willing to pay that,,, but none of the actions from the staff sat well with me. To boot I was to leave with my kids the next day for vacation, the vet made me feel very bad about that like I knew this was going to happen! I took some time to think about the whole thing, I called Banfield to cancel the appointment that I had made to start treatment (that was early July and they have NEVER CALLED TO SEE WHY),, talked with family and friends and decided to take her to my regular vet.

The staff greeted her by name and were very attentive and affectionate to her. The vet explained that she probably only had one worm and it was not in her blood system (a very GOOD sign). She gave me a set plan of treatment encouraged me to go on my vacation with my kids to my parents and we would treat her when I came back. She to was affectionate and attentive to my dog.

Banfiel knew all of the same information and gave me the impression that my dog was going to DIE. The plan of treatment at my vet was several over nights and they would watch her throughout the night, Banfield would give her the shot and wanted me to watch her for side affects, I am not qualified to do that.

My dog, Angel, is doing great and fully recovered. She had the best care around and I am glad that I walked away from Banfield.

THE ENDING COST $345,,, COMPARED TO BANFIELD'S $1200

PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY, THEY ARE NOT QUALIFIED TO CLEAN MY TOILETS.

From my experience, Banfield is hit or miss. I found my dog in an apartment parking lot (no collar, no tags, no chip), tried to find the owner, but there were no takers.

I took him to the one closest to where I live and signed him up on the wellness plan. (which I am glad I did, it has saved us money because he has an enlarged heart).

However, after an incident at the south side banfield, where I dropped him off for blood work and when I called back to check on him they told me they had done nothing to him because the Doctor never showed up that day. So I got there to pick him up and all of a sudden..."Oh no, we did draw blood!" That was the last time he went there!

We started taking him to the clinic on the North side of town. I have had mostly no complaints with them. Until yesterday that is. I took him in for a cleaning and my inital quote was 32.00 for his pain medications. When he was finished, the nurse called me and basically told me that it's my fault his teeth were so bad. (This dog was on the streets for who knows how long, and ever since we've had him we've been trying to do his dental but we had to stabilize his heart and liver first.)

and then of course he needs anti biotics and a whole bunch of other stuff...how can I say no when they already think I'm a bad caretaker? Then the bill went from 32.00 to 145.00. I just had an uneasy feeling talking to her that it was about $$.

The lady who made the rebuttal is a true idiot. Read all over the internet the complaints on banfield. It is not just this lady. Its me, her, and thousands of others. Look at this site, the bbb, any other one you want. This company is nothing but a fraud. Now, there will be good people scattered in it, but the company as a whole is nothing but a corrupt one.

I have taken two dogs to Banfield and will GLADLY continue. The first was a designer breed. She was a hybrid of a Chinese Crested and a Poodle. Very loving, very gentle, and a major part of my life. In fact, to me, she was my child. I bought the wellness plan which included the dental. It was a small cost to pay for a great deal of service. When she died, the vet, Dr. Nancy Rose, in Southwest Oklahoma City, was so compassionate, she cried. The staff was alsways considerate, never tried to sell me things Holly didn't need, never lied. In fact, had it not been for the wellness plan, I would not have known about the cancer that killed my dog. Banfield did all they could.

I now have a Jack Russell/Whippet hybrid. The Banfield in West Oklahoma City is just as kind and just as loving as the other. Yes. This is a rebuttal to the first message. I want people to know there are two sides to the story. I would bet the people who complained just would not accept the love and generosity Banfield gives. Nor would they listen to the value they were offered.

I will ALWAYS support this company and the Petsmart inwhich they are located.
