Cancelled delivery appointment

R + L canceled a confirmed delivery appointment on Friday afternoon of this holiday weekend, and as a result my business is going to have to be shut down for four days. There are a lot of excuses their Boston dispatcher could have given me for calling me to cancel, and many of them I probably would have believed. But not this one. I was told early this morning that my shipment would be delivered to me sometime after 3:00pm. Several hours later, I was called and told that they hadn't left room on the truck for what they only then had discovered was an oversized package. They could not explain to me why they would have tried to load LAST on the truck something scheduled for delivery at or near the end of the day. That doesn't make sense, and can only make a customer wonder as to the real reason for the canceled delivery--was there insufficient cargo scheduled for this area, was a driver arrested and deported, is there no one willing to work on Friday afternoon, or what. The explanation I was provided just doesn't pass the smell test.

Subsequent to my complaint above, R & L called me and offered to deliver the item on SATURDAY of the holiday weekend. They delivered it as promised, and saved me from three lost days of business, for which I am grateful.
