Don't Trust Luna Flooring

Luna Flooring Chicago, US http://www.luna.com/Home.aspx My Wife and I are very disappointed with our experience with Luna. We had a very pushy salesperson try to do a one stop close on us; after coming down 3k we decided the offer was good. After going with his recommendation for natural walnut engineered wood, we had a crew install it. The first week my wife dropped a wine bottle on the floor that broke and it left significant damage with a huge dent and the boards were 'puffy' where the wine sat while she was picking up the broken glass before mopping it up. After calling Luna and being very honest and forthcoming about what happened; they said they could do nothing unless we paid them to come out and fix it. I asked what exactly their 'lifetime guarantee' covered and couldn't get an answer. The actual material had a 30 day guarantee, but they said that didn't matter because we would have to pay someone to correct the damage. I had this floor less than one week and they won't do anything. The engineered wood is weak and a bad product; and it was pushed heavily on us by the salesperson. Now after spending over 9k we have a floor that looks bad & were not happy with; and to get anything done we have to pay them more money. I couldn't be more unsatisfied with my experience and would recommend NOT using Luna. While the installation was not up to snuff, gaps between the ends in several places, Luna came out and corrected the problem with no hesitation. After not being bullied into the price, we were told we are "wasting everyone's time" and had him stomp away like a child. I was so furious, I called to complain and vowed never to do business with them again. After hearing of how shoddy the workmanship is, I'm so glad we never gave a cent to this crappy company. The floor was installed by Luna's contractor. A couple weeks later I started to see little chips. I called Luna and was told it is not there problem. They do not warranty chips. When the Salesman told me a bout the product (L.W. Mountain Hardwood) he said it had 7 coats of protection... 7 coats of protection my butt. This floor should not be chipping at this point. I may have to sand it down, restain, and recover. This time I will use a real hardwood floor company. Don't make my mistake - go with a pro in that field. While we did not drop a wine bottle and that much liquid on the flooring, we have experienced that even condensation from a drinking glass will damage the boards and that Luna does not consider that to be covered under warranty. The sales person told us that a bowl of water could be spilled without causing damage. LIES. Even if sweat drips onto the flooring, it bubbles. Luna recommends cleaning the laminate with a damp cloth. A damp cloth will cause damage to the floor. Their customer service is terrible and the workmen are novices.
