SEVERAL MONTHS AGO I asked to be put on a budget plan I was given a confirmation number for this and my first bill came in at $111.00. I paid the $111.00 then my next months bill was not reflecting the same thing. I called on it right then when I received my bill and was told to give it till next months bill to show the budget plan to go into effect. This went on for three months every month I would call thereafter once again and all I got was from them saying MAM YOU HAVE TO HAVE A ZERO BALANCE! At the time I first made the initial call i had a zero balance! And was told I was on the budget program and was told after the thrid month that my bill was actually supposed to be $121.00. So I started paying them the $121.00 every month and it still never showed on my bill as being on budget. This has been an ongoing battle with them from Day one! This all started in december initially and service was turned on in January of 2008 ..They now since then Have SHUT ME OFF!

They are now telling me that I now owe them a security deposit of $150.00 plus there charge of a reconnect fee I believe of $50.00 for a grand total now of $541.00

Why should I be shut off due to neglegence on there part. I not only paid above and beyond what my bill was for the last few months but Consumers Energy has refused to rectify this.

Another issue I have had with consumers is for over 3 years I had complained about a leaky gas meter and they sent people out to look at it and told me it was "NORMAL" Well I had a heating contractor finally come out to my house in January and he told me to call consumers immediatly to report it again saying that a contractor had been out and he also stated that I am paying for this leaking gas. Someone actually had come out that same day from consumers and replaced my meter and he even said I was paying for the leaky gas. So I called consumers once again and was told that I am not paying for the leaking gas and that consumers energy was eating the cost and so I asked them then why are my bills lower now than what they were before the new meter? All I kept getting from them was that I did not pay for the leaky gas and was told by 2 contractors that I infact was paying for it and consumers did absolutley nothing to rectify this problem.

bOTTOM LINE When a customer is told by a company that you are on budget plan and is given a confirmation number, I would expect that to hold up to an agreement. I honored the agreement by paying the $121.00 per month SOME MONTHS MORE TRYING TO PAY OFF THE BALANCE SO why are they REFUSING to fix this? This is not my fault at all on either issue and now I have 4 kids WITH no hot water, NO DRYER, no stove or heat in any way shape or form because of a clerical error on there behalf. I AM CURIOUS HOW MANY OTHER PEOPLE THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING TO. YOU ASK TO BE PUT ON A BUDGET FOR A REASON. You have A BUDGET.. And when you send them money each month they still shut you off WHY???

This is not the first time I have been asked to be put on a budget plan and it not been done. I have had my service shut off 3 times in the last 2-3 years due to their neglegence.

After making several complaints to several different sites, I received a phone call from A Mrs. Dalton whom again stated there is nothing that can be done for either issue. She repeated to say that and so I replied you mean your company is not willing to fess up to there wrong doing? Are you refusing to resolve this matter? Her reply simply was there is nothing we can do until you have a zero balance. I said to her Again so you are refusing to rectify this matter and are not willing to admit any wrong doing? She basically acted like "who cares" in my eyes. They are refusing to fix this and are basically denying any and all wrong doings on there behalf.. This has got to stop and our voices need to be heard. I am not letting this go and I hope anyone at all reading this will file a formal complaint against them. This has to be stopped.

This company knows it is the ONLY SUPPLIER and they are doing this because they can! The more people who complain the more we can get done. If you have a complaint on them I URGE YOU TO SEND IT immediatly! Maybe if we all start to COMPLAIN AND take some legal action they will stop screwing around and do there jobs right from the get go..If THIS HAS HAPPENED TO YOU PLEASE EMAIL ME

Consumers, you know, the company that states they "care".

I was set up on a monthly payment plan at the end of August. Have been paying the monthly agreed payment. Now, living in michigan, its November, and what do you know? I came home and a notice that my heat had been shut off for non payment. Call up consumers, stated I was on a payment plan, they said that I couldnt of been put on this plan. But records show that I was paying monthly payment since August, and its now Novemember. Theres nothing they can do, gas will be restored with in 24 hours. (This is 8pm, with two little girls in the house)

After 30 mins. on the phone, telling them they put me on this plan, they said it never happened. I asked what was the last record they have, because I never received a shut off notice in the mail, and nobody called us. The last record they had of a shut off notice was in the beging of September.

I exsplained to them, that I received that notice at the end of August, and if payment was not received or payment not made, shut off was due in September. This is why I called and set up payment plans!

Now, its November 21

Yesterday, its 8:30 pm and nobody has came to turn on the gas. Its freezing cold, I have two girls in the house. Its 32 degrees outside, my husband is working and I have to be in the house for them to turn it on.

Well, when I called Consumers, the first guy I talked to said that someone was out to my house at 7:00 pm and nobody was home and it was CANCELLED! Now, I am just so upset. That is a lie! I have been sitting here in my home, in the freezing cold, heater blanket and oven on, waiting.

Get a hold of another consumers worker, they stated to me that the guy never came out, and at 6:07 pm they guy who was suppost to come out, reported that he couldnt make it and cancelled the request to turn it on, instead of handing it down to another worker like he was suppost to.

Now, another cold, freezing night...got down to 49 degrees in our house. We slept in the living room, with tons of blankets, shut all other doors and froze.

Nobody came out by 11:00 pm and now its 9:31 am and it has been 37 hours with no heat in our house, because consumers made, not ONE but TWO mistakes. And because of this, my little girls are cranky, cold and had to freeze all 37 hours!!! I am so very mad!

The one girl gave me a 10.00 $ credit! 10 flippen dollars!

Consumers dont care, when they do make mistakes, oh, well. There recording should not say such lies, like "We care about you, or your calls are very important to us".....

you put your faith into the fact they let you set up payments, and that you are trying to do the right thing...well, consumers dont even care that you try, they are trying to cover up for there mistakes and in the end, who is paying for it the most? The two little girls who are caught in this stupid, unnessary mess that Consumers caused my family.

I, too, have just had a conversation w/Ms. Dalton. We have had a protest in since Feb. when we were billed $1370.00. We asked for a meter check. Every month I have called and been told "it is extended indefinitely." Today I finally got through to Ms. Dalton who advised me that "there was NEVER a meter check ordered for our account, and that our customer service dept. has been lying to you." What did you say, Ms. Dalton - did I misunderstand you? "No we have meetings with their supervisors all the time, advising them to tell their personnel not to lie to the consumers, but they do it anyhow. I have a backlog of 700+ people just like you." I said, "this is just such a waste of your time and my time - just send out someone to check our meter." Her answer was no. Just who do you complain to about Consumers Energy - is it the FCC. Please, if anyone knows, email it to me.

We moved here from IL after 60+ years in that state, and never have we experienced such rudeness and ineptness. If we asked for our meter to be checked, they would be there within the week - NOT 4 MONTHS LATER - and we were NEVER told the customer service reps. lied to the customers.
