I was looking to buy the First and Second season of Quantum leap; so I did a Google search. Google brought up a bunch of result, but one of the from "800 Buy Movies" seemed way to good to be true. They were selling the First season of the show for "$4.95", which is way below anyone else. When I clicked on the link and went to buy the DVD, I was told that they are no longer selling the DVD; that it was left up for "Historical Reference" what ever that means. So I contacted the web site that they were misleading people with a (Bait-n-Switch). Someone got back with me saying that it wasn't a Bait-n-Switch, that they used to sell the DVD for that price. Which means they could have sold 2 copies of it at one point in time, but now they leave it up so search engines will bring up the great price and then hopefully the person will stay and buy other movies. Looking through their site, they offer ZERO good deals! Everything is overpriced! So I find it doubtful that they would ever sell an entire season of a popular TV show for "$4.95", when every other site is selling it for around $30. So I emailed them back asking that they either sell me the DVD for that price, or to change the profiles to reflect the fact that they no longer sell the DVD and that the price shouldn't read "$4.95", but rather "Out Of Stock". I have yet to hear back from them. So I am filing this complaint to warn others. 800 Buy Movies is using misleading tactics to entice buyers to their site; where they will found out that the awesome prices are NOT REAL, and that in fact they overcharging for the same DVD's that are sold for less elsewhere.

What You Should Do!

Change your Bait-n-Switch profiles. No one is selling Quantum Leap, Season 1 on DVD for $4.95! And judging from your prices, I doubt your site ever would either. You are clearly trying to misleading people into visiting your web site, where you hope they might buy other overpriced DVD's. So if your no longer selling these DVD's, then there is NO NEED to keep this profile up, with these unrealistic price. I'm sure this isn't the only profile of it's type.

800 buy movies is the same as excaliburfilms.com. I used to work for them and they pull all kinds of crap like this. They consistently mislead their customers and employees. If you do not believe me, contact one of their affiliates... Jeff at IAFD.com. He will tell you the same thing.

What a cup of shit..that is bait and switch also false advertizement..file a complaint with the Attorney General also Consumer Affairs and the FTC..if they advertize a dvd set at $4.95 then tell people once they visit the site it is no longer available yes that is bait and switch..another site pulled that on me they advertized the 24" Porcelain Xena doll for $99 plus shipping so I ordered one..they claimed that sale was no longer valid and I would have to pay $299 I complained and they were forced to let me have it at the $99 advertized price..the salesgirl was rude in her dealings with me and the owner let me have a second doll free as an apology..I gave that one to a Friend of mine!

We explained to the gentleman that the movie was no longer available and that we had sold the remainder of our stock at the sale price of $4.94.

He insisted that we had to sell him the movie, even though it wasn't available or else he threatened that he would file a complaint.

We explained to him that the 800-BUY-MOVIES website specifically states:

"Historical Reference"

"Sorry - We no longer offer this movie as available for sale. It is being kept on our web site as a historical reference only for the purpose of general information."

"Also, you may wish to check our movie auction web site, Reel Auction, from time to time, since these "No Longer Available" movies are frequently auctioned off at very low prices."

We maintain our historical references in case the movie is re-released at some time in the future. We explained that the term "Historical Reference" also meant "Out of Stock".

We always strive for complete customer satisfaction but when a movie has been taken off the market, we have no control.

Sincerely,

Webmaster
