DELTA/NORTHWEST LOST LUGGAGE!

I am writing on behalf of my sister. She flew with delta yesterday morning at 9am on flight number 5552 and was charged $140 for checking a second bag and because they said the second bag was over the weight limit. We made sure and insisted that they please do everything possible to make sure the bags would get to their FINAL destination, the agent looked at us like we were idiots and said: 'of course they will get there!' My sister had a connecting flight in detroit and when she got to her final destination in Lansing Michigan, her bags were nowhere to be found. She filed a claim of course but the problem is that Delta and Northwest are pointing fingers at each other! She booked the flight on Delta! She flew with Delta! Its not her fault if Delta buys Northwest and operates Northwest yet customers are lead to believe they are two separate companies! It has been a very frustrating experience to say the least! especially after paying the airline $140 and they still cant get the bags to their final destination!!! The bags are now in some airport somewhere. The customer service people have not been helpful at all! Both my sister and I have emailed Delta/Northwest yesterday and now almost 16 hours later, still no response! My advice: stay away from delta/Northwest. choose another airline!

Ibooked my flight on nwa and we flew trip on delta aircraft gates runway etc;I flew from atlanta to detroit on flight# 9089 8:55am as entering the plane my neice luggage was taken from my hand by the belt runway personnel and put below the plane. He did not give me a claim check for the upright suitcase. When we existed the plane the luggage was not outside plane door. I was told by the pilot and stewardess that due to weather rain the luggage was put on cart for pickup at carousel baggage claim. We went to carousel 9 waited 25 mins and luggage never appeared. I went to delta baggage claim dept atapprox 11:40 and agent at counter followed me back out to look at board for locator for bags and the flight# was not there 2 flights from atlanta appeared not our flight#. So we checked together the #9 carousel as listed for atlanta again, still no bags. We went back to the baggage claim counter and she created lost baggage claim for missibg luggage. I was told the bag probably never put on plane, put on wrong luggage cart, or their guys in detroit put it on wrong carousel etc;. I called back was put on hold x 15 mins thenn disconnected. I called back numerous times over an 1 hour period and samething. I called again and automated states no agents available and gave new number to call for lost bags.I called this 800# agent got my info and I stated before u pit me on hold I have been going in circles and was disconnected etc; she ask for my phone number in case that happen put me on hold for 10 mins then automatically transfer me to a live person voicemail. I left message and no call back 24hrs later. I went on line and last night 10:30pm status:"BAG NOT FOUND" I flew back to atlanta this morning flight#065. I went to their baggage claim dept agent checked system bag still not found. She states it's probably down in their baggage overflow room. I went there and bag was not in the location she allowed me to look for claim ck bags, again no claim check ticket was given. I was told to keep checking and after 5 days file claim with airlines. This has been the worse experience their merger should not have happen. The atitude of personnel is non-chalant, unprofessional, and rude.....I will never fly these 2 airlines again and I advise everyone else the same....
