USPS Strikes Again
|
USPS Strikes Again I just went to the Post Office (contract outlet) to purchase some postal stamps. When I made my selections and started to pull out my debit card, I was politely told that USPS will not accept any more Debit/Credit cards! It was explained to me that the Post Office does not want to pay the fee that the credit card companies charge for retail use of the Debit/Credit card. This became effective about a week ago - and I haven't seen anything in the press regarding this. Needless to say, I walked out of the store without making my purchase since I carry neither cash or checks. So now we are required to pay for stamps with checks or cash! I will be doing more bill paying via the bank (until they start charging for this service). Is there anything that the USPS wont stoop to get more $? And, on May 12 the first class rate (among other rate increases) goes to .42 for a letter/card, etc. I think the USPS has really gone too far this time.
