My letter to Wells Fargo... if I can find an email address

25 april 2008

The internet is a wonderouss thing. In a matter of moments a person can vent to 10s of thounds of individuals via myspace, blogs, Complaints dot com etc about dissatifation with a business such as yours...

More than a year (2006) ago I shreded my WF credit card because of the embarrasment WF had caused me. I only replaced it because I wanted several credit card scources while travelling last year. A few weeks ago I decided to try it again and sure enough you did it again.

I ordered automotive parts from two vendors earlier this week at about 2-6 am. Around 9 am that morning one of your CS reps called to ask if I had made the charges... I said YES and thought I was good. What I didn't realize, nor was I informed on the phone, was that both charges had already been blocked. Later that day one vender, called to inform me that the credit card charge had been denied, reason unknown. When I contacted WF credit card information I found out that both charges from that evening had been denied. One vender was welling to resubmit the charge, the other was not. This caused a delay of critical parts needed to meet a dead line promised to a customer. So once a again you have caused me extreme imbarrasment with both my vendors and customers.

I have had a BOA CC account for about 15 years. In that time they have contacted me once about a suspect charge and have never denied a charge.

So, I gave you another chance and once again I am disappointed. BACK TO THE SHREDER. If it were not for the multiple accounts and the gernerally good service my wife and I receive at our local branches I would quit WF completely. That may still occur depending on how long it takes to reestabish my trust... wife has wanted to change banks for a long time.

An unrelated topic. I am about 70 persent blind and unable to read written text without extreme magnification. Recently the branch ATM menues in our Oak Harbor branches were changed... the first time I encountered them I had to go inside the bank and us prescious TELLER time to make my cash withdrawal. I was an IT programmer for about 20 years and I know that our products would be used by many people some with personal issues... handicaps. The menu structure... described to me by wife makes good sense but I have difficultly because the lettering is to small and does not stand out and the dollar amount blocks are not distictive... separated enough.

Another concern and another reason to continue to use my BOA credit card services... pending CC transactions (verified by WF CC information services) are not displayed in the online CC statement or the menu phone service.. BOA does show pending transactions and provides email notices of my transaction to the account as they occur..

To conclude. Aside from the normal monthly VISA payment due. I will be making additional transfer payments... pennies at a time until the account balance is plus $.01 and that is the way the account will remain until I someday cancel my account. This is what I am suggesting to my friends... that ought to add a little to the computing costs per transaction... you think.

Respectfully yours.
