Kid Care Pediatrics does NOT CARE!!!

Kid Care Pediatrics does NOT CARE!!!

After almost 13 years I was forced to leave the Army due to a disability. My husband's new employer Careflite offers Unicare as the health insurance. I picked Dr. Leffel, from Kid Care Pediatrics in Keller TX, as our kids pediatrician. I brought our son in for a well check up and asked for a list of child Psychiatrists so I can continue with his care for ADHD. He is currently taking Strattera 18mg twice a day. I have been unable to find a doctor that can see him within the next week or two. Some Psychiatrists won't see him because he is 11 not 12 years old. The earliest appointment I could schedule is for the 20th of May. I called Dr. Leffel's office and asked to speak with her to see if she would prescribe enough meds to cover our son until his scheduled appointment. I was directed to one of the nurses who proceeded to tell me that Dr. Leffel " does not prescribe Strattera because she doesn't know enough about it, she prescribes Ritalyn" I explained the

situation and she told me that there was nothing she could do and that there is another doctor in the practice that might prescribe it but she doubts that he will. I asked her how can a doctor deny a patient medicine that he needs? It would only be for a short time until he can get in with his new Psychiatrist. She just kept stating that there was nothing they could do. On the Kid Care Pediatrics web page Dr. Leffel's moto is " Dr. Leffel is all ears when it comes to the concerns of her patients." apparently NOT if they are on Strattera. Strattera has made a huge difference in our son's life. On the Texas state mandated TAKS test for reading he only missed two earning a commendable score. That is a huge deal for a child with ADHD and Dyslexia. Strattera works!! KID CARE PEDIATRICS DOES NOT CARE!!!!
