Allstate Insurance - Charging too much for Homeowners
|
Homeowner insurance Allstate Insurance US allstate.com The last policy renewal for my homeowners went up again. This time, I called my agent to find out why. I was told that the premium was based on 2500 square feet of living space. In actuality, my house is only 1576. For 5 years I have been over paying. I was advised by my agent that he would fix the premium for this year. That resulted in a reduction of $450. I then inquired about back dating this b/c it was not fair that they should keep my money. I contacted the main office & after a few days, was told they could only do this for a year. I was outraged and after fighting for a few weeks, got my money back. Don't take no for an answer. If I hadn't fought with them, I would have never received my $2,000 overpayment back. My parents recently checked their policy with Allstate, & guess what? For over 20 years, they have been paying a premium based on 1800 feet when in actualality their home is 1500 feet. Goes to show you how many people are getting ripped off by the scaming insurance companies. Bottom line, review everything & always fight for your rights. Additionally, when you receive your policy renewal EVERY YEAR, try reading it. It actually tells you these things.
