Simply Floored My partner and I hired Simply Floored to refinish our hardwood floors, retile our bathrooms, and replace the carpet in our bedrooms. They were absolutely terrible. We hired them over other companies because we were led to believe that the company would be able to handle all aspects of flooring with no hassles. We paid them more than any other quotes from other contractors for this reason. The job should have taken two weeks at most. All of our furniture had to be moved out to work on the floors, so we had nowhere to sleep, sit or eat. Over a two MONTH period, the employees never showed up on time. They were often several hours late, and sometimes did not even show until after lunch, but they would still leave about 5:00 PM whether the day's work was done or not. We were led to believe that the company had its own employees doing the work. Instead, all of the work was sub-contracted. The tiling sub-contractors installed completely wrong tile, and then they became hostile when I insisted they replace the incorrect flooring with the correct flooring. The carpet sub-contractors showed up while the tile guys were still working. The new carpet was not covered to protect it, and the tile guys walked all over the new carpet with concrete. When the representative from Simply Floored came to see the problem, he told me that I should just get some carpet cleaner from the store and "try to get it out." The carpet should have been completely replaced. Our "new carpet" already has about 6 large stains with concrete on it. Additionally, the carpet around 2 doors was ripped in several places. Several gaping inches of padding were left uncovered. It took an additional month to get the carpet seamed to look somewhat ok (but not new!). The tiling guys got grout all over our newly painted bathroom walls, and they threw the old tile out the window and into our back yard. The hardwood sub-contractors applied the completely wrong color and brand of stain than what we requested. However, they did put molding around it, in the color we requested. Therefore, the molding does not match the floor. It also does not lay flat against the wall. The sub-contractor told me to "buy some wood filler to fix the gaps." We paid extra to have the stove and refrigerator moved so that the floors underneath could be refinished. The sub-contractor was simply too lazy to do the work, and when I asked him why, he made up an excuse about a gas line that did not exist. I moved everything myself and made them come back out to finish the job. This took an additional week. The hardwood floors were sanded so poorly that the stain made swirled patterns all over the floor. All doors were removed but not put back on their hinges. The sub-contractors dragged furniture on the newly refinished hardwood floor, causing scrapes and deep dents before we had even used the new floor. The grout is so messy in our bathroom that the vent covers will not fit the vents. There are also gaps in the grout. We paid for 3 coats of stain/poly on the hardwoods. The guys did 2 coats and said they would come back the next day for the 3rd coat. They never showed. To this day, we still do not have the third coat. 4 thresholds were left bare. This left the ragged edges of carpet hanging over tile with no threshold. It took a month to get the problem fixed, after several excuses. I have never had such lousy service in my life. It addition we have no record of a job with this description occurring. Without any specific information about the customer, address or job number there is no way for us to validate this compliant. If this is a legitimate complaint than I absolutely want to customer to call me directly so that I may address the situation. Obviously a job that is performed as indicated in the description above would be unacceptable. I have attempted to e-mail the consumer through this website to address the situation if it in f act did occur. In addition, if the customer sees this response, please call 1-800-356-6733. At simply Floored we strive for the best in customer service and will never leave a customer without a job that is completed to there satisfaction.
