Ford recall

1999 Explorer
Heritage Ford Loveland Colorado
US

I keep receiving recall notices concerning safety issues with a 1999 Ford Explorer XLT. I went to the nearest dealer Heritage Ford in Loveland Colorado to have a recall repair done. They said it would cost $350.00 to repair the seat because the recall notice didn't cover this repair.Even after I presented them with the recall notice mailed from Ford they never performed the recall repair.

Two years later I get another notice this one claiming my Explorer has been recalled due to the possibility of an underhood fire. (Recall 05S28)I can't help but think Ford corporate mails these notices to provide blanket damage control and appear they were doing all they can to correct the problem; while this dealer individually gets the opportunity to perform repairs that should be covered under the recall but still charge the customer money. The customer scared into thinking their car may go Pinto turn their vehicles over to feel safe once their pockets are emptied.

I took my 2000 excursion for the recall 05S28 speed control sensor. The mailing says the parts were available to do the repair so I took it in. The dealer ship did the recall, when I showed up to pick up my vehicle I was told that the recall part damaged the servo/connector harness that powers the cruise control, so they replaced it. Ford tells the dealership they are paying for the part I would have to pay for it because I waited too long to get the recall done?? What?? My options were pay for the part or the dealer would remove it and I would be with out cruise control. Unbelievable, I will never purchase another Ford product ever.

You think that something, I to received a recall notice last fall for my 1996 Lincoln town Car, with 38,00 miles on it, its like new. I took the car In to have the cruise disconnected due to the possible fire hazard, at the time the cruise worked fine. Today I made an appointment to have it reconnected because the part is available now. So I went in, got it fixed and now the cruise will not work at all. I took it back to the dealer and they are saying that this is happening a lot and that Ford is telling them its the customers responsibility. So yes, you can get the part but it may not work if you do and you have to fix it yourself. This is a total scam, if there is a further problem after reconnecting the cruise that worked fine before it was disconnected then ford should be responsible for its further defective part.

I have a similar complaint about the very same thing. Ford sent me a recall notice for my 2000 Ford Explorer to repair the Cruise control wiring because of a possible fire risk. I took my vehicle to a Ford dealer in Parkersburg,Wv in Sept,07 and they disconnected my cruise control and told me that I would have to bring the car back when they got the new parts to fix it. It is now March,08 and they have not had me bring it in yet. They say they are still waiting on parts. They are still using the news media to ask people to bring their vehicles in to be repaired but they don't have the necessary parts to repair them.
