I just wanted to make people aware of this scam. In May I received a e-mail

telling me of a free credit report, of course when you go these sites it is

$9.95 for your DETAILED credit report and $5.00 if you want your score. I

thought this was a ONE TIME charge, however, as it turns out I noticed on my

back statement that they have been charging me twice a month in both July

and August. I called their phone number 1-800-220-2626, and they said if i

would have read the TERMS (be sure to read these, I know I will from now on)

that I agreed to, I would see that if I didn't cancel within 30 days I would

be charged 9.95 a month. (which by the way, there were two offers, one of

them was a one time charge, one was a membership).

After talking to a customer service rep., and being told they could only

refund 19.90 of the charges, I asked to speak to a supervisor, and in

talking to her found that they did not even have record of one charge and

insisted they could only refund me 19.90. They did cancel my account, and

refund me 29.85 of the 39.80 they charged me. (or so they say, I will let

you know in 7 - 10 days). So in the end, I did end up paying 9.95 for the

report and 5.00 for the score, and that is ok with me.

If you are like me, and pay your bills online, I hardly ever look at my CC

statement, but I am glad I did this time. If you have asked for a credit

report, I would be sure to check your statement too.
