Macy's Furniture Puchase of a chair

Macy's Furniture
Olympia, WA 98502

On August 16 I paid in full for an accent chair to go with the sofa I also

purchased from Macy's Furniture, all together for the entire purchase I paid

$2,430 and for the chair $797. The sofa was delivered just over a week

later, but the chair was "not in the warehouse." I was told it would be in

by August 28 with delivery the first week of September. When it did not

arrive and I had no phone calls I called on the store on 9/8/07, but the

sales person I worked with was not there. He did call me back on 9/10/07 and

told me he was not certain when the chair would be in the warehouse, but

probably not until the end of the month with delivery a week or two after

that and what would I like to do? I told the sales person given the amount

of time it would take, I would like a refund. I asked him if there were

anything else I had to do, like go into the store in person, he said no I

had just done all I needed to do by letting him know I wanted a refund. By

9/18/07 I still had no refund so I e-mailed Macy's customer service and

received a generated reply and an actual reply on 9/20/07 telling me to: "In

order to properly facilitate your request, we ask that you contact our

Furniture Customer Service Department." I wrote back that I felt

dissatisfied that it took two days to get back to me to tell me to call

someone else and that they have had my money with no product for over 30

days. Someone else called me on 9/22/07 saying that they understood and the

problem was that they did not keep my card number on file so call this

number to give them this information and I would get my refund. I asked her

that since it was Saturday, should I wait until Monday to call? She told me

that they are open on weekends, so using my cell phone (more $) I called and

went through the automated system and the VMM said sorry we are closed call

Monday to Friday, etc. I couldn't believe that the nice customer service

woman I talked with would have lied to me, plus I apologized if my last

e-mail was testy. She said she completely understood, so I tried the number

again and still got no one in person. I then went to the store to see the

sales person, he did some checking and said the request did not go through

until 9/21/07 and that they did not need my card number again! He also told

me it would be 3-5 business days for a refund. Yesterday I still had nothing

showing up on my card, so I called and the representative said I cancelled

the order, I said there was nothing to cancel I couldn't get the chair. She

was terse with me and said something about "third party" and that it would

take 30 days to get a refund. I can't imagine that I could go in and get

furniture and pay in maybe 60 days, but give me the furniture now, so why

can they keep my money for over 30 days now and maybe up to over 60 days

without providing any product or decent customer service? Anyway I wish I

had visited this site or similar before choosing Macy's to see what others'

experiences were ahead of time. My furniture budget, because I just moved,

is $3,000, so at least they won't get any of that or any future business in

the department store, where I used to buy most of my cosmetics and clothing

for my family.
