casio digital camera EX-S600SR warranty refusal

The lens on my digital camera jammed, upon further inspection of the =

camera there were three missing screws in the base causing the camera =

base to have a slight opening. The camera was sent to the Casio repair =

center in Dover NJ. The camera was still under the one year warranty. =

They refused to honor the warranty stating that the missing screws and =

or the jammed lens were not a manufacturing defect. My contention was =

that the missing screws allowed the case of the camera to be open =

allowing dirt particles to enter the camera therefore causing the lens =

to jam. The repair cost was to be $119.00 or I could buy a =

remanufactured camera for $129.00 (the remanufactured camera had a 30 =

limited warranty) I ended up buying another camera with the same options =

for $149.00 and a one year warranty. I have also notice that the lens =

jamming is a reoccurring problem. On any given day you can find several =

of these listed on EBay and sold "as is".
