BEST BUY- 529 Fifth Avenue, NY, NY On 9/26/2007- Sent to ARMANDO LOPEZ: General Manager of Best Buy store located on 529 Fifth Avenue, New York: I went in to specifically purchase a Phillips DVD Player (Item DVP5982/37; SKU: 8192733) which was showing online yesterday on bestbuy.com as on sale for $62.99. I called beforehand to confirm that this item was in stock at your store. I found the item in the store and requested a price check from your customer representative Luciano in the home theatre department. He scanned the item and said it was coming up as $74.99. I insisted that bestbuy.com was showing the item as on sale for $62.99. He advised his intranet was showing a different price. Being a Best Buy customer for many years, I requested that the store honor the Best Buy price advertised online. After about an hour of going back and forth with Luciano (he took a Starbucks break in between), I brought him to one of the internet consoles and, after seeing the bestbuy.com website's price, Luciano acknowledged that the item was listed for $62.99 online and suggested I let the cashier know this when making the purchase. When I went to purchase this item, the cashier advised she could not give me the item for $62.99 because the item was scanning at $74.99. I requested to speak with the manager. The cashier called the manager. The manager would not come out to speak to me in person but advised the cashier over the phone that your store will only honor bestbuy.com prices if the customer comes in with a physical printout of the website advertisement. I asked if there was any way that they could print out the page that I showed Luciano about 10 minutes ago and the casher said there were no printers available for customer use. I called the store again this morning to get the manager's name that was on duty last night and was advised that it was Joyce Negron. I spoke with Ms. Negron over the phone and she denied she was working last night and refused to give me the name of the manager on duty last night as well as Luciano's full name. She did, however, give me your name and contact and suggested I deal with you directly. The facts of the incident I experienced in your store last night is tantamount to false advertising and, aside from being illegal, violates the very policies stated on your company website. I trust that you will take the necessary steps to rectify this problem. If I do not hear back from you by the end of this week as to how you wish to proceed, I will escalate my complaint to the Best Buy management in Minneapolis.
