Thornton's Construction Company

Thornton's Construction Company

In October, 2006 I contracted with Steve Thornton to replace my driveway. They tore up blacktop to replace it with concrete. While doing so, they exposed the wires to my lamp post causing it to short out. I begged them for two weeks to come and replace the dirt over these wires as I was afraid of some getting hurt. By the time they came the light was no longer working. He then promised me someone would be here to fix the light. That never happen.

before the concrete was poured a neighbor, who also pours concrete, noticed that I didn't have enough gravel for them to pour the concrete on. He then showed me the soft spots where the concrete would shift and cause the concrete to crack. I then expressed this to M. Thornton. e then agreed to put down more gravel but it wasn't much more. Upon completion he promised to seal the driveway. That never happen. After a few weeks and leaves falling the whole drive turned green. This he said would go away, which it did, but then I noticed the holes being eaten into the concrete by leavesa and any object that sat there to long. He wanted to just patch these holes.

Winter can and then the ground was to hard for them to fix my light. After the snow melted, I noticed that there were cracks in my driveway exactly where my neighbor told me it would crack.

I immediately called Mr. Thornton and he came out on March 5, 2007 and told me he would replace the section that was cracked and again fix my light. He was scheduled to begin on June 4, 2007.

This date came and I didn't hear from him. So I called him on June 5, 2007. By now the driveway had cracked even more. I told him this and he started asking me if I had big trucks and/or semi's pulling in my driveway as if this is now my fault. I then told him that I was tired of his delays. I then called the BBB.

On June 6, a 7:30am he came over to view the new damage and called me on the phone. He told me that he wqnted to save two of the sections that weren't cracked, but I told him no because I didn't pay for a patch job. I paid for a atotally new driveway. He also asked me would I eat some of the cost to replace this driveway but he quickly changed that ideal.

As of this date I don't have a new driveway. I am currently on a fixed income and do not have money to file a complaint. So I guess I'm just out of my money. Is there anything that I can do?

Thank you
