AT&T Wireless - hidden charges and poor customer service AT&T Wireless (/Cingular) Los Angeles/Nationwide AT&T Wireless - hidden charges and poor customer service: Before traveling to Mexico, we asked an AT&T representative how that would affect our phones and usage. They discussed the coverage, but failed to mention that if the phones were left on, they would be collecting email messages automatically (even if we were not actually using the phone), for which we would be charged - and it's not something we can control, since we cannot control who emails us. The result? An $800 phone bill. When talking with another representative, Miles Sisk, at the AT&T Reno, Nevada office, he was unable to forward us to his supervisor or anyone that could help. The level of customer service he gave us can be summed up in his quote: "We can't sit there and hold your hand and coddle you." Needless to say, we are very disappointed in AT&T and feel that this level of service is not acceptable, nor is it what they promise in their sales dept.
