KAY JEWELERS MISREPRESENTATION OF REPAIR PRICE and LACK OF REPAIR

KAY JEWELERS MISREPRESENTATION OF REPAIR PRICE and LACK OF REPAIR type+complaint+here On September 6, 2007, I entered Kay Jewelers @ Chapel Hill Mall in the City of Akron and the State of OHIO. The manager approached me to accept payment on my account and then I shared with her my desire to have my 1.76 CTW wedding ring sized up 1/2 size along with prongs that needed to be re-tipped. The amazing thing to me was they have an on site jeweler sitting in a glass window. I felt like my decision to have this task completed with a reputable company would be a safe decision.
As the manager consulted with the female jeweler and came out to insure me that my ring could be sized up 1/2 size and I most assuredly needed two prongs replaced, I gave her permission to do just that and asked how much the service would cost me. She promptly replied that the sizing would cost me $30.00 and the total charge would be $80.00...No problem here...I was delighted. However, it was apparent to me that she seem distracted for some unknown reason and I expressed this thought to my companion of the day which happened to be my very own aged mother.
I infomed the sales associate that I would like to pay for this transaction with my husbands charge account (which I just had gotten done making a payment on) inform me that she couldn't do that! She was very intense about that! Actually spoke in a little sharper tone than what I thought she should have! Moving past the payment method, I just stated towards her that I would be paying for the repair when the repair had been completed and picked-up on September 12, 2007!
My husband and I went to the jewelry store together with eager anticipation of viewing my diamond repair and the polished look of a completed job and a ring that would appear to be brand new again. Much to my dismay...They did NOT repair my prongs as promised and they NEVER cleaned the ring or polished it (which is just done folks...make sure they do it...!!).
The manager did NOT fill out the repair slip in an appropriate manner and they didn't charge me my $30.00 for the sizing of my ring...they charged me and entire $85.00 for 1/2 sizing. In no way, has their customer service department tried to resolved my question as to WHY the $85.00 charged insued when she quoted me $80.00 for both two prongs and 1/2 sizing and "it would look brand new when I picked it up"! My concern is that it seems to be ok with this reputable company that this misrepresentation of service and price will just stand as incomplete! (Blows my mind!)
Unfortunately for us...It still stands "Buyer BEWARE!" I made the terrible mistake of NOT checking what she had written. I am out the money but they are now out a customer that would never trust them to do another repair with a quoted price of one thing and expectations of having the work done in a wonderful way.
Disappointments exist which is truth but lying to your customers Kay Jewelers...Just isn't suppose to be! I personally have worked for Kay's competition (and let me tell you their customer service surpasses anything that Kay's has done to date.)
Just one more thing consumers: Take the time to let others know when you are being lyed to by an employee. We can make mistakes as humans truth, but this was one sales associate who went out of her way to make money in a very dishonest and underhanded way.
GOD KNOWS she lied to me and who else does she lie to? Probably her own employer!
PS: Please remind yourselves that diamonds are NOT STONES...they are precious gems and should always be referred to as diamonds...makes you look like you have no credibility when you refer to them as stones..(slang for diamonds)..just thought you would want to know!
