concert ticket scam from Gotickets.com
|
Go tickets, inc chicago, il www.gotickets.com Gotickets.com of Illinois sold us concert tickets on-line without informing us that: a) it wasn't the actual singing group but impersonators, b) they were charging THREE TIMES face value of the tickets. In Texas, that's call scalping, and there are laws against it. They would not refund the money nor accept the tickets back for refund. They claim we agreed to their conditions, however, their conditions are not clearly stated nor easily found on their website. Then they told us they were going to continue charging our credit card for charges we were NOT authorizing.

The "ticket broker" Goticket.com is nothing more than an Internet scalping agency. They do NOT state verbatim that they are selling tickets "above face value." They state there is a "fee" for their service. No one would agree that a 200% ADDITION to the face value cost of the tickets is a reasonable "fee". It is scalping. If this company were in Texas, they would run afoul of the scalping laws. Obviously we thought the outrageous high price was because the group ABBA, disbanded since 1983, had reunited for one or more select performances, and NOTHING on Goticket.com's website said anything to the contrary. NOWHERE, other than the words, "The Show," was there ANY indication that this was NOT the original singing group. This scam outfit is obviously capitalizing on an easy mistake to make, taking GREAT CARE NOT to alert any potential customer that they were NOT buying tickets to the original group, i.e., a description of the show mentioning IMPERSONATORS rather than the original artists. Further proof of this comes in the search words they entered used to direct Internet surfers to their website: "ABBA tickets." "ABBA tickets" would mean tickets to ABBA, NOT tickets to impersonators. Indeed, when I entered the search words, "Abba impersonators" into my Google search engine, THEIR website did NOT appear. The search words THEY chose to bring them customers would be the words customers would use to find ABBA, NOT ABBA impersonators. And they KNOW that. This scam company should be required to state the face value of any tickets they sell, and a breakdown of the amount they are adding on top; and they should be required to clearly state what artists are performing, i.e., if it is a touring company of a Broadway musical, they should have to state "NOT THE ORIGINAL BROADWAY CAST." Or "NOT THE ORIGINAL SINGING GROUP." Their game is to let people make an erroneous assumption by misguiding and intentionally NOT revealing ALL the information, then NOT making good on a refund. ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com From: Message Author (click here to email author) (has asked not to receive email)Date: Tuesday, 16-Oct-07 12:10:11 CDT Business: Reply Online Consumer: Comment On This Comment On ThisI recently purchased a ticket from gotickets.com and paid $15 for an overnight shipment. Two days later and I still haven't gotten the tickets via fedex, so I check online and it's not there. Then I look at the email PDF invoice they gave me and it shows that the tickets were going to be shipped one week after I purchased it which negates me paying $15 to get them overnight. Gotickets wont give me an answer and they wont pick their phone. I still haven't received my ticket and the show is a few days away. Don't buy from Gotickets.com, this company is shady.
