Gym Membership New York Sports Club (NYSC) 102 North End Avenue New York, NY 10281 US www.mysportsclubs.com I have two issues that I wanted to complain about NYSC. When I signed up with NYSC in Oct 05, I had asked about getting the corporate discount through my company. They said that I can only get that through one of their other branches. However, since they did not want to lose signing me up with their branch, he would offer me a better deal. He said that I would get one membership that I can use for the North End branch and sell it to me at that price, and that he will also provide me a guest membership that I can use for all the other gyms associated with NYSC for the next year. It sounded like it was too good to be true, but I fell for it and signed a 1yr membership. After 1 month, I found out that the guest membership is supposedly to last for a short time period, and my guest membership was cancelled. Then, 1.5yr later, after my contract period was over, I went to cancel my membership with my friend in May 07. Front desk told me that the manager was busy, but that the manager would cancel it for us afterwards, and that we donâ??t need to worry. It would all be taken care of I believed her, and left the gym. However, next month in June 07, I discovered I was charged for the monthâ??s membership. When I went to complain to the gym, the front desk said that they had only cancelled my friendâ??s membership, and not mine. She then cancelled my membership in front of me, and told me not to worry, this was all taken care of, and that I didnâ??t owe anything. Now in Oct 2007, I was called from someone in collections telling me that I had overdue charges that I need to pay. When I contacted NYSC, I talked to the manager who told me this was too long ago, and that since I didnâ??t have any evidence, I canâ??t do anything. I had my friend who had witnessed everything with me, but that wasnâ??t good enough. Iâ??ve accepted that I wonâ??t get my money back, but overall, this was a very bad experience, with their personnel lying or misleading me all the way through this process. Contact the BBB and file a claim immediately if you haven't done so already. Secondly, give BBB time to handle your case. If all else fails, and if you need to file suit in small claims court for charges, then do that as well. good luck.
